Congratulations to our April Volunteer of the Month, Audrey Harsh!
This past fall, Audrey was at Worthington Mall when she came across a pop-up event for Fairy Godmothers, an organization dedicated to promoting confidence and self-esteem among Central Ohio youth. Audrey felt a strong desire to give back more to her community, so she signed up to help with the organization’s signature event, Cinderella’s Closet Boutique.
At the event, nearly 1,300 high school students in need were invited to “shop” free of charge for a prom dress and accessories. Audrey volunteered as a Personal Shopper, helping her peers find outfits that fit well, flattered them, and made them feel confident and celebrated. Audrey said her favorite moment was watching a student leave with a dress Audrey had chosen because she knew it would help her feel beautiful and confident.
In addition to this work, Audrey has been a regular volunteer with the Our Lady of Peace School After Care program. After completing her Sophomore Service requirement at OLP, Audrey was offered a paid position to continue, but she politely declined and instead continued to volunteer. She loved working with the children and felt it was more meaningful to give back to a program that had been such an important part of her own elementary school years. Audrey also finds ways to volunteer with the Bishop Watterson girls golf team, of which she has been a member since her freshman year.
