While standing in line at airport security this morning, Erin asked me a trick question.⁣
⁣
Fellas: You know the question I'm talking about.⁣
⁣
The one where regardless of the answer, we log them an opportunity to bust our balls.⁣
⁣
"Do you think I was hotter when I was pregnant?"⁣
⁣
If I'm being honest, pregnant Erin is the fu***ng hottest she's ever been to me, from a physical standpoint.⁣
⁣
I would drool 24/7 at her exaggerated curves, glowing skin, and massive tits.⁣
⁣
But mom Erin brings a different package to the table.⁣
⁣
Witnessing her become a mom has given me a new meaning of love & respect.⁣
⁣
…. I’ve seen her take on a grueling 48-hour labor to give birth.⁣
⁣
…………. I’ve watched her breastfeed our son for the past 7.5 months. ⁣
⁣
…………….I’ve seen her pull consecutive all-nighters caring for our baby boy. ⁣
⁣
………………….I’ve watched her stroll through an airport with a baby, a pump bag, a diaper bag, a laptop bag, and two suitcases all while responding to slack messages.⁣
⁣
The song we danced to at our wedding was "I thought I loved you then"…⁣
⁣
And every day, I live these words.⁣
⁣
So sure, while you were pregnant I couldn’t keep my hands off you. ⁣
⁣
But now, I can’t keep my mind off of you. ❤️

Two brothers are sitting on the team bus after their high school football game when a single moment changes the trajectory of their lives…. ⁣
⁣
The bus is positioned in a parking lot of a popular local restaurant. ⁣
⁣
The two brothers are the only ones not inside enjoying dinner because their parents live paycheck to paycheck. ⁣
⁣
Instead, they enjoy the bologna sandwiches that their mom made them that morning. ⁣
⁣
A man steps onto the bus, startling them as they bite into the bread that tastes like dirty socks from sitting inside their sweaty gym bags all day. ⁣
⁣
They realize it's Jordan, their friend and teammate Jaxsons dad. ⁣
⁣
The brothers know Jordan well, as they're both good friends with Jaxson. ⁣
⁣
"Jaxsons dad is the fu***ng s**t,"… they always say, as he's incredibly generous, more jacked than every other dad, and is at every sporting event. ⁣
⁣
Jordan tells the two brothers, "It would make me very happy if you would allow me to buy you dinner and join the rest of the team. ⁣
⁣
Here's $150.00; you guys should have a little extra for ice cream after. ⁣
⁣
No one has to know; all you have to do to thank me is do the same thing for another great kid in the future." ⁣
⁣
Although this story is made up, I've had similar moments leading to my becoming the man I am today. ⁣
⁣
And as I think about my "why." ⁣
⁣
… Why do I work so hard?⁣
⁣
……. Why do I take so many risks? ⁣
⁣
……….. Why do I want to earn f**k-tons of money when I'm perfectly content living on a moderate income. ⁣
⁣
The answer is simple. ⁣
⁣
I want to be able to provide for not only my family but for less fortunate kids. ⁣
⁣
And I look forward to the day that I'm old, withered, and grey and a man approaches me to tell me how a single act such as this changed the trajectory of his or her life. ⁣

….. Managers have weekly 1-1’s and end-of-week reports with their team.⁣

………Our team has weekly check-ins and regular 1-1 calls with our students.⁣

Why is that?⁣
⁣
Because accountability is the key ingredient to ensuring progression.⁣
⁣
Yet most of us lack a check-in inside of our relationship.⁣
⁣
and I have had relationship check-ins, but nothing seemed to 'stick.'⁣
⁣
Recently we learned a process from thats been a game-changer.⁣
⁣
It’s called T.E.A.M., and it takes roughly 10 minutes.⁣
⁣
T - Touch⁣
⁣
Sit down, take a deep breath, and hold hands. The touch is a signal that “we’re in this together.”⁣
⁣
E - Education⁣
⁣
As a nerd who loves learning, this one’s my favorite. You each share one interesting thing that you learned that day.⁣
⁣
A fun fact, hard truth, something about ourselves, whatever.⁣
⁣
Yesterday, I shared with Erin how scientists believe we’re more than 200,000 years overdue for Earth's magnetic field to reverse.⁣
⁣
When this happens, it will be cataclysmic. Our energy grid will render useless, and our earth will be exposed to devastating solar flares and cosmic radiation.⁣
⁣
Today I’m looking for something a little more positive.⁣
⁣
A - Appreciation⁣
⁣
You share one thing that you appreciate about the other. Big or small, you have to acknowledge.⁣
⁣
We give bonus points for creativity, so you can’t keep using the same one.⁣
⁣
M - Metrics⁣
⁣
This is the tough one. Often we go about our day, and something our partner does triggers or upsets us.⁣

But we either don't say anything because we're busy or it's uncomfortable.⁣
⁣
Or we respond emotionally, which never goes well.⁣

So instead of nagging or making passive-aggressive comments, you bring it to the TEAM check-in.⁣
⁣
It's a safe space to discuss rather than argue.⁣

In celebration of birthday today - A True Story: "How three half-naked dudes in her kitchen led to me asking her to be my girlfriend." ⁣

This particular tale takes us back to the summer of 2017.⁣
⁣
Erin and I had only known one another for a couple of weeks. ⁣
⁣
I was deep into a competition prep for a men's physique show, so I was extremely rigid, and structured.⁣
⁣
Erin on the other hand was going through a divorce and living her best life.⁣
⁣
Her sister Megan Davis] had replaced her husband as a roommate, and for the two of them, this was their "summer of ratchet-ness."⁣
⁣
I later found out Erin kept a list of all the guys she was talking to, and she and Megan Davis] would ascribe their nicknames, so she didn't get them mixed up.⁣
⁣
I was sitting in an honorable third place of twelve dudes.⁣
⁣
Anyways, on one summer day, I had asked Erin to hang out.⁣
⁣
She agreed, and we made plans to have a bonfire at her house that evening.⁣
⁣
As the day progressed, my mood and energy plummeted.⁣
⁣
I was reaching the "this fu***ng sucks"" phase of prep, so I decided to bail.⁣
⁣
I figured, "this will only make her want me more" - a tactic that has worked quite well in past casual relationships.⁣
⁣
I texted Erin - ""Hey, I hope you don't mind, but I'm exhausted; I'm going to stay in tonight.""⁣
⁣
She replied (two hours later) - ""Ok, no problem!""⁣
⁣
This is right about the point that my plan back-fired.⁣
⁣
I sent another text - "Are you sure you're cool with that? I'm sorry, my energy is awful right now, and I know I wouldn't be much fun.""⁣
⁣
No response.⁣
⁣
The following day I woke up feeling defeated.⁣
⁣
"Did I just f**k this up?" - I thought.⁣
⁣
So I did what any insecure control freak would do in this instance. I stalked Erin on social media.⁣
⁣
As I opened her Snapchat story, my heart dropped into my shriveled prep balls.⁣
⁣
Erin was, in a bathing suit, in her kitchen with 2-3 dudes in their boxers, making breakfast.⁣
⁣
This was the exact moment I knew Erin was for me.⁣
⁣
She took no s**t from me.⁣
⁣
She didn'tdidn't ''need'' me.⁣
⁣
Two days later, I turned my s**t around and asked her to be my girlfriend. 🤣🤣⁣.
