Not a bad view for a work meeting, right?!

First picture was literally the view with leadership team at lunch.

Second picture is Diani Beach, the most beautiful beach I have ever set my feet on.

I have seen the sun no more than three times since leaving Mombasa… 40 days ago 😳 . I’m not complaining or letting it affect my inner state; I’m just stating a fact.

Nonetheless, I dream of going back to Kenya to support the soccer and literacy program, to see my wototo , and to see blue skies again!

Let me know if going to Kenya is on your bucket list and we can see about making it happen!

Sneak peak!!!

Some things I love: Reading, writing, teaching, and sports. So having the chance to write this curriculum manual and student workbook for was… ALIGNMENT.

To have it and hold it in print is so rewarding.

SO Excited to share with the F3 program managers in our training tomorrow morning!!!

So excited to get their feedback and their edits over the next 4 months.

So excited to keep writing more manuals for the foundation.

Because this work we do as a team for the kids in our world is 🔥 and more kids should have access to it.

“What did you do in Kenya”? (Post one of many in no particular order…)

-partnered with and
to host a women’s workshop on meditation and the menstrual cycle.
-taught girls how to do a body scan and notice breath and body signals
-answered dozens of questions about the woman’s body and gave overview of the 4 parts of our lunar cycle
-guided ladies into a final resting position and guided positive affirmation mediation about the power and intelligence of our female bodies.
- disbursed the 3,000 menstrual health items donated by fans. (Asante Sana, )

Being mindful is about being present.

It’s about listening with your whole body.

It’s about asking yourself questions and being honest about what answer you hear.

Books bring kids and adults together in the present moment.

There is nothing more lovely than being together in the present moment.

Spent the morning with at a 2 summer camp we are providing programming for…

Before I taught middle school literacy and mindfulness I had the chance to sit in on Cassidy’s K-2 session where she effortlessly implemented a picture perfect structured literacy lesson that she hand crafted to align with the story of the week!

Perhaps most notable was how seamlessly she integrates children’s yoga into her lessons. Exactly when it was needed. A few moments to take some deep breaths to regulate the group energy made the learning time last so much longer.

I had the pleasure of working with a few of the students 1:1 as we practiced applying the phonics skills she has been introducing during her sessions.

Small Ratios make a BIG impact.

Beautiful time spent.

“Do you need to sit still and feel the breeze on your skin?” -Mindful Miru

At 5 years old, she has been watching my every move. She has been my meditation partner through thick and thin. Through the many versions of me since she has been born. And coming back to society after a stint in a yoga retreat center in Tennessee, where she was able to take me by the hand and spend 1:1 time with me twice a day in a Shala that looked out into the Smokey Mountains, she needed a minute to feel ready to reengage in our modern world.

This was completely unprompted.

I want this for all kids.

No matter what reality they are living in.

Mindful Literacy tip of the year: VOTE to keep our Ohio Constitution in place at majority rules. Vote “No” on issue 1 AUGUST 8 (or sooner).

Or at least read about it from bi-partisan sources and form your own informed opinion.

You may infer this type of dirty politics is one example of why I am seeking dual/triple citizenship.

You have a Choice.
You have a Voice.
(For now).
