It’s been interesting that having just watched the amazing depiction of Jesus walking on water (Mark 6), Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. is speaking at Elevation Church on the same topic.

“What if you’re not in a storm, but instead are between two miracles?” He asks - it’s all about perspective.

My random thoughts - all of those things are important. It’s great to have the miracles and have things going well. But those who are worshipping or serving God only for the perfection, have lost 99.6% of the Bible. We start in perfection (Genesis 1-2) and end in perfection (Revelation 21-22), but we negate the struggle of the fall, consequences, struggle, trials, tribulations.

moment - I loved the monologue from the Armorer (Emily Swallow) Mandalorian S3E4 - “This is the Forge. It is the heart of Mandalorian culture. Just as we shape the Mandalorian steel, we shape ourselves. We all begin as raw ore. We refine ourselves through trials and adversity. The Forge can reveal weaknesses.”

We don’t like the storms of life because they reveal our weaknesses. We have to ask for help, find mettle we didn’t know we had, or grieve the loss of things that we love but ultimately were hindering our journey.

Yet. They. Are. Necessary.

So many of us assume that because our story has taken a dark turn, that we’ve lost our way. But I might question if that is the case. If you have ADHD, Christmas can be a difficult time because all of your symptoms may manifest.

You may be wondering why, so allow me to explain:

❄️Socializing - During this season, there is a lot of socializing, from work Christmas parties to friend and family gatherings, and so on. This may be difficult for those suffering from ADHD.

❄️Expectations - There are many expectations around Christmas regarding how one should feel happy, excited, and in the Christmas spirit. This, however, is not always the case. During this time of year, you may feel anxious, overwhelmed, or sad, and you may feel the need to put on a mask.

❄️Presents - Because people-pleasing is a common ADHD trait, many people in our community find that they spend more money on gifts for their loved ones. This can lead to overspending.

❄️Christmas can be filled with so much noise and extra stimuli everywhere which can be very triggering for HSP.

5 things a highly sensitive person dreads about the holiday season 🎄. They will question if they got the right presents, if they responded properly to questions, and so on.

❄️HSPs become emotionally exhausted from absorbing everyone's emotions. They will question if they got the right presents, if they responded properly to questions, and so on.

If you know someone who is highly sensitive, be aware of all of this so you can assist them.

💫The Christmas season can be exhausting, especially for introverts who value alone time, with all of the Christmas work parties, friend gatherings, and family time.

Here are five pointers to help you get through this time of year and avoid burnout:

1. You don't have to say yes to everything, but it's also important not to always say no. Saying yes when you don't want to can be beneficial, and over time, your brain will recognize that these parties and the people who attend them aren't a threat, and socializing may become easier."

2. Establish a minimum time to spend at the party - Social gatherings can be awkward, but setting a time limit for yourself will give you something to aim for.

3. Have an exit strategy - There is no shame in leaving if the party becomes too much for you. Create a secret code that alerts your partner or friends that it is time to leave.

4. Set some boundaries ahead of time - Christmas parties can add up quickly, so instead of overcommitting to all of them, plan out your month so you can mentally prepare yourself.
