Beyond the Syntax: How The Assembly Club is Humanizing the Technical Interview 04/15/2026

🚀 The Assembly Club is Humanizing the Technical Interview

At the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, we know that our students are more than just their code—and The Assembly Club is proving it.

For many, "LeetCode" means a solitary struggle against a "Time Limit Exceeded" error. But our students are changing the narrative. On March 31st, The Assembly Club hosted its first-ever LeetCode Tournament, transforming technical interview prep into a high-energy team sport.

Beyond the competitive spirit (and the Lego prizes!), the club’s leadership—including Anna Krivoy and Ivan Ni—is focusing on the "soft" side of hard science. They emphasize that being able to verbalize logic and present solutions is just as vital as the syntax itself.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is proud to congratulate Professor Ness Shroff on receiving the 2026 IEEE INFOCOM Test of Time Award.

This prestigious honor recognizes the 2016 paper, "Update or Wait: How to Keep Your Data Fresh," co-authored with C. Emre Koksal, Yin Sun, Roy Yates and Elif Uysal-Biyikoglu. Together, they revolutionized networking by introducing the Age of Information (AoI) metric—overturning the "zero-wait" conventional wisdom and proving that strategic waiting can actually lead to fresher data.

As the leader of the NSF AI-EDGE Institute and the AI(X) Hub at The Ohio State University, Professor Shroff continues to define the future of distributed intelligence.

Please join us in celebrating this incredible milestone for our faculty and the global research community!
