What does 'rest' look like in a busy season at work?
- about 7-8 hours of computer work today - so I took a 20 minute walk an hour before lunch
- need to do some work from home over the weekend - and felt worn out on the project - so tonight I did some fun stuff and watched US World Cup soccer, even though my mind tried to say 'you should do some work now to make it easier this weekend.'
Any time you say 'should', you've made a judgment. And judgments are not helpful.
So I did 0 work on the project tonight. I don't feel guilty. I feel a little more mentally relaxed where I can probably focus better tomorrow.
Giving yourself grace makes all the difference when you are struggling with feeling worn down, worn out, or burned out.
If you're feeling that way and can't find your way back to better balance, schedule a 20 minute no cost call with me to talk about your rest deficits and how I can help you find margin, peace, and balance again.

Not sure which you're lacking the most? Schedule a no-cost 15 minute call with me at suebowles.com/contact - as a Certified 7 Types of Rest (R) speaker and coach, I can help you find better balance and live a more rest-filled life.
"Knowing which type of rest you're lacking can help you figure out the best way to replenish your energy stores. Here are examples of the 7 types:
-PHYSICAL: sleep or active recovery
-MENTAL: meditation or doing something physical like yoga to allow your mind to rest
-EMOTIONAL: prioritizing your own needs & expressing freely
-CREATIVE: being in nature or doing something that inspires awe or wonder
-SPIRITUAL: connecting with something larger than yourself
-SOCIAL: spending time with people who don't need anything from you or aren't dependent on you
-SENSORY: taking a break from technology or bright lights & sounds"

Gotta live what I preach!
Living my Step Ahead.
2 months later and I finally took my first long walk outside...9.5 minutes at a very leisurely pace, about 1/2 mile, maybe a bit less, and had a alight uphill grade. Felt it a little in the knee but not bad, and used my anti-inflammatory stuff as soon as I got back inside.
That. Was. Glorious! (And even did a YT live)

Your "friend" list is hitting the limit. Your follower count is climbing. Yet, somehow, the room still feels empty.
It’s a strange irony, isn't it? You’re more connected than ever, but you feel deeply misunderstood, disconnected, and alone. You’ve followed the "social success" playbook to a tee, but you’re still waiting for that genuine sense of belonging to kick in.
Loneliness isn't just a "bummer"—it’s a signal. If we don't address the root cause, it becomes a gateway to:
Declining mental health
Chronic anxiety
Addictive behaviors used to numb the void
The good news? You aren't stuck here. Reconnecting with yourself and the world starts with three specific questions that shift your perspective and your power.
I break down exactly what those questions are—and how to use them—in my latest video.
Here is your next step. The question is: Will you take it?
