☕ Monday Morning Coffee - Weekly Insights from EDspaces
Inclusive learning environments don’t have to start with major renovations or major budgets.
For neurodiverse learners, small design decisions can reduce barriers to focus, comfort, and participation. Through universal design, those same choices support every learner in the room.
Practical places to start:
• Lighting that reduces glare and fatigue
• Acoustics that limit distraction
• Flexible furniture that supports choice and movement
• Clear wayfinding that builds confidence
• Accessible technology that makes content easier to engage with
The most effective learning environments are intentional. They’re shaped by collaboration across education, design, facilities, technology, and procurement.

EDspaces 2026 offers two ways to bring your learning environment vision to life.
Teams can choose the format that best fits their goals, resources, and design approach:
• Fully Designed Learning Environment: Furnish and outfit the full assigned room for 75 or 100 attendees.
• 1,000 NSF Designed Learning Space: Design approximately 1,000 net square feet, with EDspaces collaborating on supplemental seating to meet room capacity.
The 1,000 NSF option is built to support intentional, realistic, and research-driven concepts that reflect how learning spaces are implemented in practice.
Submit a design that shows how environment can shape learning outcomes.

A well-designed music classroom does more than look good — it changes how learning happens. This week’s highlight shows how corridor-centered layouts and flexible spaces can boost connection, supervision, and creativity, all while making every square foot work harder. Thoughtful choices in acoustics, color, and materials support both instruction and student experience, delivering benefits well beyond the walls.
