Now Hiring: Part-Time Afternoon Closer

We are looking for a dependable and caring team member to join our afternoon closing staff!

Position: Part-Time Afternoon Closer
Hours: Afternoon/Evening Shift (Hours may vary between 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM)
Location: Columbiana, AL

Responsibilities:

* Assisting with afternoon classroom coverage
* Supervising children
* Cleaning and sanitizing classrooms at the end of the day
* Helping with snack and classroom transitions
* Ensuring proper check-out procedures are followed
* Communicating professionally with parents and staff

Requirements:

* Must be reliable and punctual
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Must pass required background checks
* Experience in childcare preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
* CPR/First Aid certification preferred

What We’re Looking For:

Someone who is energetic, patient, organized, and enjoys working with children in a learning environment.

Volunteer Spotlight: Firefighter Reed 🚒

How long have you been a volunteer? How long with CFD?
“I have been in the fire service for about 35 years now.”

What inspired you to become a volunteer?
“The reason I joined the fire department is, I had a little brother who died in an auto accident. After that tragedy, I felt in my heart that I needed to help people by serving the people of Columbiana.”

What do you do for a career?
“I am a heavy equipment operator of 43 years. I have worked in different states.”

Have you served with other departments?
“I’ve also volunteered for a fire department in Pennsylvania called Whitehall. They maintain five stations—I was assigned to Station 3.”

What is your favorite part of being a volunteer?
“Helping people and being there when they need it most.”

What are your hobbies, and how do you balance family life?
“I am currently a single parent with four daughters. Two are in the medical field, and two are in childcare.”

A little more about Firefighter Reed:
Firefighter Reed has been instrumental in many areas of the success of Columbiana Fire’s operations. One key role he fulfills is overseeing the opening and operation of the city’s storm shelters during severe weather, ensuring citizens have a safe place to go during dangerous conditions.

He is also widely respected as a senior firefighter and mentor, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience from his many years of service.
