I am again so proud of my oil painting student, Deni Cary Phillips. She recently spent time painting en pleinaire in Ireland, and that experience has sharpened her landscape painting skills significantly.

Omaha Republican Mayor Loses Reelection Bid After Running Anti-Trans Ads Democratic challenger John Ewing beat Republican incumbent Jean Stothert 56% to 44% for the mayorship of Omaha.

My accomplished painting student, Deni Cary Phillips, has created another wonderful painting from her own photograph.
Please notice the amount of depth in this painting. The subject matter was perfect for creating this effect.
There are tricks to creating this kind of depth though. The foreground should have warmer colors, more detail, and harder edges to bring that part of the painting forward. The distance should generally have cool colors because atmosphere weakens the warm colors to our eyes.

Once again, I am very proud of what my student painter has accomplished. Deni Cary Phillips is an accomplished pastel painter and watercolorist, and decided she wanted to learn oil painting. And what a fine painting she created!

I’m so proud of my painting student, Sara Romeis Leonard. This is her FIRST oil painting, and it’s quite a fine piece!
I am accepting new students at my new home studio. I teach one-on-one and I can guide you through while keeping it fun. I streamline the process by only requiring students to bring a canvas and some reference photos. I will start you on landscapes, because they are easy for those unaccustomed to oil painting. I have room in my schedule for 1 or 2 more students.

The Orr Street Studios are having our annual fundraiser on November 16th and you can obtain your tickets from me (or my cat, Otter). It’s going to be another fabulous party with a silent auction, food & drink, DJ, dancing, and a raffle, too.
