Ecologic Tech currently licenses out its Greenest Brick technology, giving 3rd parties the ability to manufacture a brick or paver that is made from fly ash from coal power plants. This brick performs at the same level as clay bricks in terms of safety, durability, and strength and costs roughly 20% less to produce due to the absence of kiln-firing. More importantly, it solves several environmental problems at once 1) it recycles a landfilled waste 2) it safely encapsulates the heavy metals inherent in fly ash and keeps them from contaminating ground water 3) the “kiln-free” curing process uses only 10% of the embodied energy of making clay bricks and has negligible CO2 emissions 4) it reduces the need to strip mine clay from the ground. At present, the Greenest Brick has received patent approval in the U.S. and South Africa with patents pending in Europe and China. In addition, the Greenest Brick has won numerous awards from entities like: Time Magazine, Popular Science, and The History Channel.
