You can join us at our table with Historic Columbia and the Harriet Hancock LGBT Center at the Pride Festival on October 5th to participate in an on-site oral history interview or sign up to participate at a later date. Happy National Coming Out Day everyone! The ability to come out within the q***r community is one full of complications and often has to happen many times for many different people. It is important to remember that each coming out is unique, but those who are able to do so are doing something truly powerful.
As always Q***r COLA would love to hear about your coming out stories or any stories about your experiences being Q***r here in South Carolina. Should you want to record an oral history with us, please do not hesitate to message us here on Facebook or to email us at [email protected]

Not sure of the date of creation, so any additional information would be deeply appreciated. If you are interested in donating materials, providing an oral history, or getting involved with the project we encourage you to send us a message or email us at: [email protected]

If you have anything you would like us to preserve digitally, please contact us! Our project co-director Travis Wagner handles digital donations of photos, videos, manuscripts, and other objects.

There are no restrictions on who can participate. Right now we are especially interested in meeting LGBT POC, trans people, and other particularly marginalized members of the LGBTQ+ community.
