Patriot Hall has been a cornerstone of Sumter’s arts community since 1986, when the former Edmunds High School campus was renovated into what is now the Sumter County Cultural Center, with Patriot Hall as its primary performing arts venue. After decades of concerts, community events, and touring productions, the facility recently underwent a major restoration—an approximately $5 million renovation that modernized the auditorium with upgraded lighting, sound, accessibility improvements, and updated technical capabilities, while preserving the character that makes it such a beloved venue. The restoration was completed by Thompson Turner Construction (GC) with design by Collins & Almers Architecture, and Benton Henry was hired by Thompson Turner Construction to document the completed restoration through architectural photography.

A rare South Carolina snowfall transformed the South Carolina Ports Authority Dillon County Inland Port into a clean, graphic study of logistics—rail, containers, and infrastructure laid out in crisp winter light. I’m Benton Henry (Benton Henry Photography LLC), and I specialize in industrial photography that helps companies document operations and show the scale, precision, and impact of the work they do. This aerial perspective highlights the intermodal flow that keeps projects moving—even when the weather is anything but typical.

Poynor School shines again after a thoughtful renovation—especially in twilight, when the new work and original character read in the same frame. This restoration was completed by Thompson Turner Construction, with design by Collins & Almers. Proud to document the details and the people behind the build.
Poynor School in Florence has a special kind of presence—one of those places that carries local memory in its walls. Long before it became a newly renovated facility, it served generations of students and stood as a familiar landmark in the community’s educational story. From 1906 until today, that legacy is being carried forward in a new way: the building is now part of Florence District 1’s cutting-edge education program, helping high school students begin a pathway into the medical field. The restoration was performed by Thompson Turner Construction. Photography by Benton Henry

We had an amazing event last week with copyright attorney (and longtime photographer) David Deal and Photojournalist Sean Rayford— and they absolutely delivered!
Sean explored how deep work and personal projects shaped his personal growth and voice. He used his experiences with Hurricane Helene to pull back the hood on his philosophy and approach, driving his most meaningful work.
In the afternoon session David broke down why copyright registration is essential, how digital and social media have turbocharged infringement, what AI is really doing with our images, and why photographers must treat their archives as long-term property.
The big take-away? Your images are your property. Your archive is your legacy.
Much thanks to everyone that attended, to our sponsor Spartan Photo and everyone at the ASMP South Carolina Chapter that worked hard to make the event happen!
Stay tuned for our next event and be on the lookout for an announcement early 2026!
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
