Today we dedicate a moment to hone in on the greatest motivation of them all…Food🍎 🍌 🧀

As the Muses of motion, our bodies and our health is our instrument of artistry. Therefore an intentional and insightful diet becomes critical for the lifestyle of dance. Below are some tips towards the nutritional essentials for a dancer to be successful and hopefully injury free :
1. ✨ Proteins ✨
Animal based or Plant based proteins. Proteins are essential for muscle repairing and building. So considering that we’re always re-trraining and re-sculpting our bodies for maximum performance gear… Proteins are a must!
2. ✨ Rich, healthy, and yummy Fats! ✨
(Yogurts, nuts, avocados, fish and eggs)
Good fats leave you satiated and full longer that way you can enjoy more dancing/training in peace from your belly!
3. ✨ Carbohydrates, yes “Healthy” carbs! ✨
This is the energy source that dancers need the most for fuel but can sometimes be neglected. With the constant motion that we create, there must be an energy source to burn and Complex Carbs (oats, fruits, beans, whole grains etc.) are the most efficient. While Simples Carbs (cereal, juice and candy) can be convenient, the calories aren’t as clean and they tend to burn out very quickly leaving you hungrier, sooner.

The harder choices make you stronger. The scariest ones make you fearless. The painful ones make you resilient.
Being a dancer is a choice, and those that train honestly, know the beauty that is eventually shown on stage is a product of sacrifices and moments of discomfort.
We are choice and work ethic personified. We do with our bodies what most are scared to try. That is what makes Dance so beautiful.

Humpday is here and tonight the SPSA would like to humbly show our appreciation to all of the ✨Dance Teachers✨who sparked a fire in our feet!
Reflecting on this past season we must highlight the fact that NONE of our accomplishments are possible without you.
Our teachers stand as the guiding lights and founding fuel behind all of our dreams, goals and most importantly…discipline.
Your attention to details and your instilled accountability allows us to take not only talent, but CHARACTER and PRESENCE into any dance studio, company or performance stage.
In the most graceful way, you tell us what we NEED to hear…not WANT to hear. And for that we love and thank you unconditionally, and we’ll always carry you with us through every accomplishment!
