Senior Spotlight: Ray Tatum! 🎓

Ray joined our AVID family in 9th grade. Ray has been a proud member of the Battle boys’ basketball team. He enjoyed his time in the CASA Lab at Hickman during his sophomore year, and has been part of the Early College program since his junior year. Ray’s classmates describe him as funny, loyal, and an “academic weapon”. Ray will attend Central Methodist University in the fall to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in business administration with the eventual goal of earning his MBA. We are so proud of you, Ray!!!

Senior Spotlight: Dominika Ingram! 🎓

Dominika joined our AVID family in 10th grade. She is the concertmaster of Battle’s orchestra and a proud member of the Missouri Academy of Music. She has also been part of choir, Battalion (Battle’s show choir), and National Honor Society in her time at Battle. Her classmates describe her as the “sweetheart” of our senior class, someone who brightens the room & brightens our days. Dominika will attend MACC after graduation and intends to transfer to Mizzou to earn her Bachelor’s degree in dietetics.

Senior Spotlight: Brennan Johnson! 🎓

Brennan has been in AVID since 7th grade, beginning her AVID journey at Oakland Middle School. Brennan has been a proud member of the Battle girls’ basketball team, a beloved Battle Buddy “Big” to two “Littles” at Eliot Battle Elementary, and an office aide in the AVID office this year. Her classmates describe her as hilarious, resilient, and genuine. Brennan will attend Missouri State University to study social work. We are so proud of you, Brennan!!!

Senior Spotlight: Blake Hall! 🎓

Blake joined our AVID family in 10th grade. He has been a very active member of our Battle High School community, serving as Senior Class President, National Honor Society President, COMO Interact President and Earth’s Workshop President. He was also a delegate of the city of Columbia sent to visit our sister city in Hakusan, Japan the summer following his sophomore year. His contributions to the senior class and our school community have been invaluable. We are so proud of you, Blake!!!

Senior Spotlight: Andrew Inn! 🎓

Andrew joined AVID in 8th grade, beginning his AVID journey at Oakland Middle School. Andrew has been enrolled in the Early College program since his junior year. One of Andrew’s favorite parts of AVID was presenting his TRFs to his classmates and getting to solve his point of confusion. Andrew was also part of an AVID service learning project aimed at helping to fill potholes on city roads more efficiently. We are so proud of you, Andrew!!!

Senior Spotlight: Belle Enyart! 🎓

Belle has been in AVID since 7th grade, beginning her AVID journey at Lange Middle School. She is enrolled in the Early College program and has served as one of two Senior Class Event Planners this year, organizing events like Senior Sunrise, Senior Breakfast, and Senior Spirit Week. Belle will attend Mizzou in the fall to study residential architecture after earning her associate's degree from MACC through the Early College program. We are so proud of you, Belle!!!

Senior Spotlight: Taelen Kemp! 🎓

Taelen has been in AVID since 9th grade. Taelen’s classmates describe him as organized, dependable, and cool under pressure. One of his favorite days in AVID was our senior Dorm Food Challenge. He will attend MACC in the fall with plans to transfer to Mizzou to complete his Bachelor’s degree. We are so proud of you, Taelen!!!

Senior Spotlight: Maahi Patel! 🎓

Maahi joined AVID in 10th grade and has been part of the Early College program since her junior year. She was accepted to 6 universities including Arizona State, Georgia State, UMKC, University of Missouri, Lindenwood and the University of Chicago. She will attend Mizzou next year to study Business Administration. We’re so proud of you, Maahi!!!

AVID 11 had a great time touring Columbia College this week! We even saw our very own AVID All Star featured on the board in the nursing hallway 🤩 and some former Oakland Eagles got to reconnect with their for AVID teacher Ms. Valera, who’s now a program coordinator at CC! We loved getting to peek around her office 😝 Thank you for having us, Columbia College!
