April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and we want to take a moment to bring awareness to such a horrific problem. According to The CAP Center, a child abuse report is made every 10 seconds. Too many children have had to be victims of child abuse, but we can try to stop child abuse before more children become victims. Resources such as the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault, The National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the Stop it Now! Organization are all great resources on child abuse prevention and training.

🏹Why Pi Phi Wednesday🏹
“I chose Pi Phi because I have always been from a small community. I grew up in a small town, went to a small middle school, and was part of the IB program in high school. Coming to UCCS, I was intimidated by getting to know people in classes and figure recruitment, even if I didn’t get a bid, would introduce me to more people. When going through recruitment, I felt so welcomed by the girls in Pi Phi and fell in love with the philanthropy. I have made great memories and friends in Pi Phi and love being part of this organization!”

The goal of Sexual Assualt Awareness month is to bring awareness to the issues of sexual violence in our world. We need to bring awareness in order to help educate communities on prevention and consent. It is so important to empathize with the victims and never blame the victim: it is never their fault. According to RAINN.org, 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed r**e in her lifetime. Unfortunately, so many women and men are the victims of sexual assault. It is so important to raise awareness and promote education on prevention and good resources for help.

🏹Why Pi Phi Wednesday🏹
“I chose pi phi because when I came to college I didn’t really know anyone and decided there was nothing to lose going through recruitment. I instantly loved all the girls I talked to in pi phi and knew that’s where I belonged. From there I have now met the most driven, amazing, kind people who I know will be in my life for forever!”
