I hope this post finds you well. I'm writing to share an important event that I am honored to be joining for my very first year, one that seeks to honor and remember those who have tragically succumbed to overdose each year.
I am happy to announce that Freedom Quilters, my charitable quilting workshops, in a heartfelt collaboration with Serenity Recovery Connections Peer Recovery Teams, their volunteers and their Expression Sessions workshops, invites the community to partake in the creation of a memorial quilt.
As we reflect on the lives lost to overdose, we recognize the profound impact of this epidemic on individuals, families, and communities. Each loss represents a unique story, a cherished life cut short, and a void left behind. This quilt serves as a poignant tribute to the cherished lives lost to overdose.
In honor of those we've lost, we are hosting a Memorial Quilt Event, where we will come together to create a beautiful quilt that serves as a tribute to their memory. This quilt will be a symbol of remembrance, love, and solidarity, honoring the lives and legacies of those who have passed away due to overdose.
We warmly extend the opportunity for individuals to craft a commemorative square that will become a part of this tapestry of remembrance.
*Photos may also be submitted to be included in the quilt via transfer to fabrics.*
We invite you to join us for this meaningful event, where we will gather to share stories, memories, and support one another in our community's grief. Together, we will sew, share,reflect and create a lasting memorial that celebrates the lives of our loved ones.
Whether you have been directly impacted by overdose or simply wish to show your support, your presence at this event is deeply appreciated.
Together, let's come together as a community to honor the lives lost, offer comfort to those who mourn, and raise awareness about the importance of overdose prevention and support.
