We'd like to wrap up this school year by taking some time to share some Stallion poetry. Please enjoy, and good luck on the rest of your finals! Finish strong, Stallions!
"Discrimination in America"
a poem by Dontrel Jackson (pictured below)
They say discrimination and racism in our nation have deceased
But with the facts I’ve received I’m going to have to disagree
We see racism everyday
Whether it’s in stereotypical statements or in our pays and our wages
African American youth are raised in different poverty stages
Mexican Americans work for illegal insignificant pay
Asian Americans are attacked everyday--even if it’s positive it doesn’t make it okay
The white supremacists talk sh*t about it everyday
While not acknowledging the fact that they made us this way
The white unemployment rate is half of blacks' and lowest of any other race
While our colored nation wants nothing but success even if it’s just a taste
So when I hear racism is deceased I will ask you to what degree
We may not have shackles on our feet so it appears that we're free
But that’s only physically ‘cause we have shackles on our minds--
in our jobs and in our lives
So when you hear that discrimination and racism in our nation have deceased
I would like you to take a stand and Disagree

Seniors! For those who were at the assembly last Friday, we apologize for the technical difficulties during the senior slide show...the projector and the sound system were malfunctioning. We are working on getting the slide show online so you can view the pictures in full and hear the music with lyrics. In the meantime, if you'd like a copy of the slideshow, feel free to stop by room 104 after school with a flash drive. And don't forget to purchase your yearbooks!
