The Springs Ranch Wellness Team was hard at work this year, reviving past wellness programs such as Elementary Basketball, District Track Meet, School Social Functions, and Skate City Nights! This year, we brought back popular programs to increase student opportunities for physical activity and team camaraderie. These included Landsharks Running Club (K-5th), Elementary Basketball (3rd-5th), District Track Meet (4th/5th), and Skate City Nights (K-5th). Students who signed up and attended these programs were highly engaged and had a terrific, positive experience!

Several students mentioned how much they enjoyed participating in programs like this, and were left wanting more. In the words of one basketball player, "I am so sad that basketball season is over, but I can't wait to sign up next year!" This was a common sentiment among students who participated in these programs!

Also, the Wellness team helped to fund and install a new "Buddy Bench" near the SRES playground. This Buddy Bench also memorializes a beloved staff member who sadly passed away in 2020. She would have loved to see students connecting and supporting one another, as that was one of her greatest strengths and passions as a Speech/Language Pathologist here.

The SRES Wellness Team is looking forward to building more momentum in the upcoming school years, with the goal of impacting even more students in the areas of physical, social, emotional, and mental wellness. We will even be teaming with the nutrition services staff here to increase our messaging for healthy, nutritional food choices. In all, it has been a great year to boost everyone's health in a large variety of ways, and we can't wait to keep meeting the health needs of everyone in our school population! Let's GOOOOOOOO!!!!

Hello Bobcats! Welcome back for the new school year! I am excited to have y'all back in the gym, and to see all the smiling faces.

Here's the plan for the first quarter 3-5th grade will be learning Ultimate Frisbee and Spike Ball (time permitting), and K-2nd grade will be working on Spatial Awareness and basic body movement skills.

In addition, all grades will be taught about and given plenty of opportunities to explore what it means to be a good sport. This is always an emphasis in the SRES gym, and I firmly believe it is one of the most important and useful lifelong skills that students can acquire during their time in PE classes.

Looking forward to a great 2021-2022 school year!

For The First Time In Forever....

I got to teach whole classes in person yesterday! I felt like a real live teacher again, having real live students in the gym! Most of the time, our plan will include holding PE classes outside. But, you know, Colorado has this strange phenomenon called "weather" :-) So we had classes in the gym. It was FUN!!!

Anyway, I was feeling oddly nervous yesterday! I told the kids it was kind of strange to feel nervous doing something that I've been doing for the last two decades. Maybe it was because it had been so long, or maybe it was trying to make a lesson go smoothly amidst all the new health protocols, rules, and procedures.

The good news is it was an excited kind of nervous, like when you know you're doing something that is important to you, and you want it to go well. It wasn't a scared or anxious nervousness. I also shared with them that after we exercised and played a couple games, the nervousness seemed to get better! Hooray for using our bodies to help our brains! Endorphins are a powerful thing!

Gosh, it sure was wonderful to have the students back in the school, though. I can't wait for next week, when the 3rd-5th graders also return. And for those who are opting to continue E-Learning for now, keep logging on and stay engaged. I look forward to seeing your smiling eyes again when you return!

Gratefully,
Mr. Ingram

2020-2021 Welcome Back to P.E.

August, 2020
Welcome back, everyone! I am looking forward to beginning an unusual new school year. Not because it’s unusual, but because I get to see you all again, hopefully even in person!

For at least the 1st quarter, the primary plan is to hold all my P.E. classes outside in the park next to the school. Please be sure your student(s) are prepared for this. I strongly recommend a personal water bottle, sunscreen (applied at home, please), and weather-appropriate clothing as well as P.E. shoes on days when your student(s) attend P.E.

In the event of inclement weather, P.E. classes will then be held in the gym, with a bit less class time, to account for extra sanitizing measures between classes. On the topic of sanitizing, all the P.E. equipment being used will be sanitized between each class and at the end of every day.

For E-Learners, we will again be using Google Classroom (like in the spring), and you will find all the P.E. information and lessons within your child(ren)’s regular classroom page. For example, if your child is in Ms. Neal’s class, then all the P.E. assignments and information can be found in Ms. Neal’s Google Classroom page each week. I intend to post one P.E. assignment each week, and keep them up for two weeks at a time, in case you need extra time to complete any assignment or to catch up on older ones.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions or are in need of any clarification or more information. The best way to reach me is via email [email protected]. You can also call my office phone at 719.495.1149 ext. 6542.

As always, I look forward to the opportunity to teach all of the Springs Ranch Bobcats, and I appreciate the trust you place in us as we teach your child(ren), especially in such a time as this!

Respectfully and Gratefully,
Mr. Ingram, SRES P.E. Teacher

Hey there Bobcats! I just gotta say, this stinks! The reason we teachers got into education was because we love interacting with kids, and seeing them in our classrooms every day. I always tell the students that teacher work days and inservice days are my least favorite days, since there are no kids in the school. It's a pretty boring place without you guys! Of course I miss all the kids, but I am REALLY missing my fifth graders (most everyone else I will get to see next school year). We have precious few remaining chances to see you guys this time of year anyway, and now many of those chances have been taken from us. Dumb virus!!!😕

In the meantime, we are trying out this Brave New World of E-Learning. Be sure to check in your Google Classrooms for lessons and messages from me. I will find a way for us to keep in touch through those avenues Can't wait to see you guys and your smiling faces back in the gym again. Until then, I want you to know that I miss you all!
