AAHS Parents & Guardians,
You are invited to join Parent Council and TESSA of Colorado Springs on Thursday, November 10th at 8am in the Air Academy Media Center for a talk on how to help support your teens as they navigate friendships and other relationships through their high school years. Coffee and breakfast snacks will be provided.
For anyone who wishes to donate (not required), we will also be collecting gently used winter coats to support TESSA clients. We invited you to clean out your closets of any youth and adult winter coats that no longer fit. If you can't attend the meeting, please don't hesitate to still share those winter coats and if you don't have extra coats, please don't hesitate to attend the meeting!
RSVP to [email protected] appreciated but not required! Hope to see you there.

Good morning, AAHS Parent Council families,
After Prom is only three months away! We have reserved The Summit Interquest on Saturday, May 14th from 11:30 p.m. to Sunday, May 15th at 3:30 a.m. What is After Prom? This event is for juniors, seniors and their dates. It is a safe, fun and casual party to enjoy after the Prom activities are over. Students enjoy hours of bowling and laser tag as well as unlimited arcade games, pizza, sodas and more. Instead of students being out on their own, they can come to The Summit Interquest and have a great, safe place to hang out with their friends. We also have door prizes and giveaways throughout the early morning hours – saving the best prizes (mini-fridges, TVs etc) for the end to encourage them to stay longer! All of this for $20 if tickets are bought in advance or $25 at the door. Students love going to The Summit Interquest and we wanted to give them this same, great opportunity as the prior graduating classes, however the rental fee has increased significantly since COVID. We want to keep the price low, so we need to raise about $9,000 through company sponsorships, cash donations, gift card donations, and even KOHL’s cash (to buy giveaways). Anything needed beyond these funds will be raised through some creative fundraisers.
Thank you for getting involved and providing your support for your teens on this Sign Up Genius Link below:

We have the world's BEST parents at AAHS! Thank you for taking such good care of your students and of our staff.

Happy holiday Monday, Air Academy High School Families!
We want to invite you to join Parent Council!
Wait, who can join Parent Council?
Any parent/guardian of an AAHS student!
What is this again?
Parent Council at AAHS is similar to the Parent-Teacher Organizations at elementary schools.
Why would I attend? There are many benefits to being a part of Parent-Council!
- Be in the know as we support staff and students this school year
- Hear about activities that you can support (as time permits for you)
- Meet other parents who are living the realities of guiding teenagers through high school
- Share your parent experiences directly with school leadership!
- Share creative ideas for bringing joy to students and staff throughout the school year
How?
A small $20 contribution is all we need. Fees can be paid through PayForIt or directly at school via Bookkeeping in AAHS's C Building. If you pay via check at Bookkeeping, please put "Parent Council" in the memo line.
What does the fee do?
Parent Council's budget goes toward planning staff appreciation events, providing school awards and student treats, running After Prom, etc.
When are meetings?
We invite you to come to our first Welcome Meeting next Wednesday Sept 8 from 9:00-10:30AM* in the Media Center at AAHS. You will meet other new and returning parents. Breakfast will be provided (nom, nom!).
Mark your calendar for these future meetings:
11/10/21 (1-2:30PM* - AAHS Cafeteria)
1/19/22 (1-2:30PM* AAHS Media Center)
3/9/22 (1-2:30PM* AAHS Media Center)
We hope you'll join us for one or more of these meetings!
*Want to get connected but work during the regular business day or have other questions? No problem. Reach out to Parent Council President Dawn Pappas at [email protected].

Good morning, Kadet families!
Student schedules are now available to view on the IC student Portal (UPDATE: The Reports tab is now called Documents!)
In the fall, Air Academy will host a **Senior Only** Arena on August 9th from 8am-12pm.
Seniors can access Arena for the following reasons:
·There is a hole in their schedule that needs to be filled with a class other than a TA or partial (those can be e-mailed to your counselor)
· The student is missing a graduation requirement class (note Civics may be scheduled for second semester)
· The student is double-booked in two classes
· The student would like to drop a class for a TA or partial (note must carry 6 classes and a minimum of 5 credits) and we cannot rearrange schedules to accommodate a partial.
· If the student wants a TA (Teacher Assistant) or SA: (Student Assistant) they should email the teacher of interest to gain their approval first. Please let them know the block the student is inquiring about. They will have a form to complete to be able to be a TA or an SA. We will not be able to re-arrange classes.
**If your student wants to drop a class for a TA or partial, the student may e-mail their counselor with this request and do not need to attend Senior Arena.
Student schedules for grades 9-11 are mostly set. We cannot accommodate any changes except for the following reasons:
· There is a hole in a student's schedule that needs to be filled
· The student did not get a CORE class (Math, Science, English, Social Studies and/or World Language) that I requested
· The student is in a class that they've already taken (or took over summer school)
· The student needs a change due to Career Start or Concurrent Enrollment
· If the student wants to be a TA (Teacher Assistant) or S: (Student Assistant) they should email the teacher of interest to let them know with which block they are seeking to help. They will then have a form to complete.
Please note that if your student did not get a class they requested, it was because the class was not offered at all (due to limited demand) or was only available at a time that didn't fit in their schedule after looking at a variety of options. Alternates they selected were placed in their schedule as available.
