I wonder how different life might’ve been had I known much of what I felt early in life was grief. And I especially wonder… what if I had known how to feel my feelings and process them instead of being petrified of them.

First walking day… 4/20/25… first pilgrim breakfast, beautiful Porto stairs, backpack on, poncho on, headed out! What have I gotten us into? 😅✨

There was a lot of boardwalk walking this day.

One year ago today, 4/22/25, walking en route from Porto Portugal towards Santiago Spain… walking the Camino

I am presenting at my networking group next week and so I have lots of thoughts running through my world.

These are a few…
Lighting the Way believes in
Interrupting the pattern of passing down generational shame, emotional suppression, and disconnection from self… before it moves forward one more generation.

One person, one family, one generation at a time.

So that grief finds witness. Loneliness finds belonging. Invisibility finds its end. And the ones coming after us inherit something different.

We’ll see how this transforms in the next seven days before I present.

The four agreements … a small AND powerful book. It’s 140 pages long with agreements to be impeccable with your word, to always do your best, don’t take anything personally and don’t make assumptions.

So much wisdom in this book and ends with a few prayers.

Have you heard of it, have you read it, what do you think about it?

My daughter wanted to read it while we walked the Camino last year from Portugal to Spain✨🌀❤️

Self soothing tips

One of the ways loneliness shows up is wishing for someone to really talk to.

For someone to listen without being rushed or needing to try to fix things or even give meaning to things.

For someone to really see your experience without trying to dismiss it or look past it.

This kind of connection really changes a person ✨🌀✨

Grief isn’t just about death. It’s about all the moments in life where you had a wish that something were different or something were better, or there had been more of something.

That really expands the topic doesn’t it?

Grief can feel scary to people and even shameful. (That part is heartbreaking to me).

You may feel a wish that someone understood your experience. And sometimes feel lonely because it doesn’t seem like your pain can be communicated or that others understand it or even notice.

There’s good news, we can learn to process those feelings in a way that you’re not carrying it all on your back in a heavy backpack.

If you’re tired of feeling at a loss of how to feel better, send me a quick message and we can talk. I think your story matters and you matter and honestly, I believe it’s time that more of us get on board with shifting the narrative that exists around emotions.

Much love and care,
Lana
