I'm passionate about nurturing students to be self-reliant and to find that they have everything in

At Your Instrumental Body, I believe in nurturing the WHOLE singer - body, mind, and voice! As a teacher, my goal is to inspire a healthy, whole-body coordination in my clients, enabling them to improve their singing, gain performance skills, and develop general health and the ability to live life with ease. A well-tuned body is the instrument for a well-lived life…and you deserve both.

Matching Pitch takes 3 Steps!

1. Be Present and Listen
2. THINK THE PITCH(es)
3. Breathe and Sing

Many of the singers that I work with who start out not matching pitch are missing a key step in the process.

They are so busy being nervous that their brain isn’t THINKING ABOUT PITCH.

Instead, their brain is thinking all sorts of other things that will not allow it to process the information to tell your body how to produce the pitch you want to sing.

So, stop worrying, and start listening to tour brain sing on the inside before you make a sound!

Do you struggle to notice what’s happening in your body while singing - or doing any activity?

If so, you’re not alone!

The most common answer I get from clients who are starting out in lessons is “I don’t know” or “I don’t feel a difference”.

That’s because we need permission to find the words, let the process be messy, or maybe even get it wrong while we discover more!

Come discover more about yourself as you gain the tools to expand your awareness and discover choices about how you can use your body to sing, or do anything, really!

Awareness = Clarity
Clarity = Choice
Choice = Power

Come to the upcoming Alexander Technique classes to connect more to your body and what’s possible!

Your Body is Instrumental to Living Life to the Fullest!

Ever wonder what happens in a voice lesson with an Alexander Technique teacher? Today in the studio, we did foot massages and toe crunches to wake up the feet and activate the voice. And then we worked on slowing down an activated nervous system so that a new client could be less anxious and more present to sing and notice their body. We sing with our whole body, so at Your Instrumental Body, we attend to the whole body in lessons.

Throwback to one of the most powerful trainings of my life — working with horses and riders in Albuquerque, NM as part of my Alexander Technique post-grad training. 🐴

Horses are prey animals. Their nervous systems are always on — always scanning, always ready to bolt. You cannot fake calm around them. They feel your tension before you even get close.

So before we could connect with a horse, we had to regulate ourselves first. Zoom out. Take in the whole picture. Get quiet inside.

And when we did? The horse trusted us. Their body softened. Old tension patterns — held there purely for protection — finally had permission to release.

That's exactly how it works with people, too.

Trauma (physical or emotional) puts the nervous system into protection mode — muscles grip, breath gets shallow, and fight/flight/freeze kicks in. As an Alexander Technique practitioner, I don't push past that. I co-regulate with you, moving at the pace your nervous system can handle, until your body feels safe enough to shift.

Horses reminded me just how universal that language is. 🙏

While limited spots remain - there's still time to register for The Integration Lab this Saturday at 10 AM in Colorado Springs!

This class is intentionally small so that each participant will have the opportunity to experience the magic of this co-regulation through individualized turns.

PS. Don't try this on your own. We worked with horses under the supervision of horse professionals. I'm using this as an example of the training and work I've done to be able to work with my human clients.

Your future body is quietly being shaped by what you do today.

Not by dramatic changes.

But by repeated patterns.

How you sit.
How you respond to stress.
How you move through your day.

Most people don’t realize they’re building tension habits until pain shows up later.

The good news?

Small awareness shifts now can change that trajectory.

This is the heart of the Integration Lab:
learning how to notice and shift the habits your nervous system has been running on autopilot.

Because your future self deserves a body that feels capable, coordinated, and trustworthy.

Who needs to calm their Nervous System down with all of the chatter in the world these days - and the stress?

I'll be leading a Nervous System Reset ONLINE this week on Wednesday at 11:30 AM Mountain Time.

Join from your office at lunchtime, your home, or even your car!

While it is helpful to have a place to lie down (like the floor with a yoga mat or towel) - it is not required.

Come as you are, and spend 30 minutes nurturing your Nervous System to help you get through another crazy week.

Deets below!

For many years, people came to me because they wanted help with their voice.

But something unexpected began to happen.

People started coming to me who weren’t singers.

They were recovering from surgery.
Living with chronic pain.
Navigating physical or emotional transitions.
Trying to feel at home in their body again.

And I began to see the same patterns.

The body adapts to protect us.

But those protective patterns can also keep us stuck.

Using the same principles that help free the voice, I watched people rediscover coordination, ease, and trust in themselves.

That’s when I realized something important:

This work was never only about singing.

Singing is one doorway.
But it’s not the only one.

Your Instrumental Body is expanding.

Singers will always be at the heart of my work.

And I’m also opening the door wider.

There was a time when singing — the thing I loved most — stopped feeling reliable.

On the outside, everything looked fine. But inside, something had changed. I found myself trying harder and harder to recreate sensations I couldn’t quite access anymore. The more I tried, the more disconnected I felt.

I didn’t understand it then, but my body was protecting me.

Discovering the Alexander Technique changed my life — not because it fixed me, but because it helped me understand how to stop interfering with my body’s natural coordination.

Over time, my voice became freer. But even more importantly, I began to feel at home in myself again.

I learned to trust my body.
I learned to trust my voice.
I learned to trust myself.

That experience led me to complete a 1,600-hour Alexander Technique certification, and it continues to shape everything I do today.

This work gave me my voice back.

But it also gave me something much bigger.
