Cleaning is so much more than dusting, vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms.
It’s so easy to forget that dirt and grease are high up on top of picture frames, doorways, refrigerators, and cabinets, to name a few.
Here are three photos of the top of kitchen cabinets above a stove that I cleaned today. Such a satisfying job!

January tasks

Kitchen-
Cabinets, Refrigerator and furniture

*Clear out all food items before you begin. Unplug the fridge. Use warm soapy water. (I like a mixture of water and Dawn) Give the inside a thorough clean. You may need to bring in the vacuum to sweep up remaining debris.
If you get real serious, take apart the shelves and drawers and wash them out in the sink. If you do this you'll be able to clean all the spills that are behind drawers and shelves.

*Wipe down the front of your cabinets. I like to use Thieves from Young Living for a basic wipe down. If you find you have a grease build up get ready to put in some elbow grease! I like to use Norwex degreaser and a magic eraser and/or a Sponge Daddy. Don't be afraid to pull our a razor blade either.

* The inside of cabinets may be the most time consuming. Take all your food out so you are able to vacuum and wipe down all your shelves. Go through all your spices, cake mixes etc and check the expiration dates. Throw what is expired and food you bought thinking you were going to be healthy and all ....2 years ago....away! Put everything you need back in an organized manner.

* Wipe down kitchen table legs, chairs and any other furniture you may have in your kitchen.

*Don't forget to wipe down your trash can!

*If you're feeling extra enthusiastic take a moment to look around. Do your lights need cleaned? Shelving unites? Does your toaster need cleaned? Coffee Pot? Canisters? Etc. Do you have old cookbooks and pots/pans that need to be donated? Now is a good time to do that.

Oven and Stove Top

*Time to tackle your oven. If it's self cleaning make sure you have the kitchen well ventilated. If you're doing it old school style make a paste of baking soda and find a good scrub brush. You can use special oven cleaning chemicals but I prefer to go the nontoxic route.

*Stove tops- I love my Thieves for this or my norwex enviro cloths. No smears. If you have grates soak those in warm sudsy water then use a scrub brush to get rid of grease and baked on food.

Dishwasher and Microwave

* Clean the inside of your microwave. The easiest way to do this is to get a rag really wet. Put it in the microwave and cook it for 1 minute. This loosens everything up. Wipe it down and dry it.

*Garbage disposals- those can really stink! I have found that lemishine makes a fabulous cleaner. It's hard to find in stores these days so I order mine from Amazon.

*Dishwashers- Inside and out. To clean the inside clean the filter then add 1 cup of vinegar and run on the hottest setting. When that cycle is complete add 1 cup of baking soda and run again. Shine up the outside by wiping it down using a good all purpose spray (Thieves) or a Norwex enviro cloth.

Countertops and Kitchen sink

*Scrub your countertops, bake splash and your sink with warm soapy water or a good non toxic all purpose spray. Make sure you get into those corners where all the dust and debris like to hide.

By this time you should have touched every object in your kitchen. This may take you 1 or 2 days to complete but you can do it. When you're all done it will feel so much better!

Now go order take out.

We've made it halfway through January already!

Some of you may be thinking it's time for another deep clean. Maybe you've been avoiding cleaning out your kitchen cabinets or the refrigerator. Maybe you just need help getting the house back in order after the holidays.

I do have 2 days in January and February hasn't filled up just yet so if you would like to talk shoot me a message, text or give me a call.

Let's make your home a cozy, safe and clean retreat!

You've been going 100 miles an hour. The presents still aren't wrapped, the baking hasn't even begun, will you even get to look at Christmas lights this year?

You may have company coming, it may just be you and your precious family but still...the house needs cleaned.

Let's stop and breath for a second. Let's remember why we celebrate Christmas. Remember that baby, the one that was born in a barn. A smelly one at that? That perfect baby who was laid in a feed trough moments after his birth? That baby whose father was probably trying to scoop p**p away from his wife and newborn son? Yes you do. You remember Jesus. Take another deep breath and let's try to keep the focus of Christmas on the heart of the matter. If we do that the whole busy, messy month of December comes into a soft yet clear focus.

Ok but still, company is coming. The shepherds came. All they saw was Jesus. I pray that's what your company truly sees too.

But but but....all right! Pick up the clutter and vacuum the floor. Find rest my friends. Tis the season for peace.

How often do you really clean your oven?

Do you clean the hood? If you check it now you might see a lot of dust and grease caked on it. I suggest using a degreaser or a mixture of dawn dish soap and water. Clean that baby up!

Same thing with your oven filters. These are something most everyone overlooks but they need some TLC too. Just pull them out and soak them in the same mixture.

Take apart your stove top and soak and scrub it as well. It'll make your kitchen feel so much better!

Just in time for holiday baking.

Tis the season for binge cleaning fa la la la la la la la la!

Here are a few quick reminders, especially for those who are expecting guests in the next few weeks.

1. Clean out your refrigerator. This will not only get rid of old, unused food but also make space for your Christmas baking.

2. DECLUTTER! Start with one room. I'd recommend either the kitchen or living room. Grab a bag or a laundry basket. Collect everything that doesn't have a proper home. Throw away old mail, toys, misc. items etc away. Everything else needs to go back into a drawer, closet or cabinet.

3. Clean the bathrooms. Everyone loves a nice clean toilet, mirror, sink and vanity. Don't forget the shower and floor!

4. Wipe down walls. You may not notice all the grim that has accumulated on them but cleaning them makes your home feel so much better.

5. Simple things- fluff pillows, empty trash cans so the smell doesn't permeate throughout the house, hide magazines, remotes, items that aren't necessary to be out.

6. Dust. Everything. Picture frames, flat surfaces, knick knacks, top of door ways...I promise, if you look for dust you'll find it. Not only will this make your home feel better but cleaning out the dust will help keep you and your guests stay healthy.

7. Last item for today, make your bed!!! Even if guests are only walking by it, it truly sets a tone for your home.

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared before and after photos. This sink is a black granite composite sink. If you have one in your kitchen be aware of what you are pouring down the sink, specifically paint.
