April 30, 2026 Camassia leichtlinii settling in near one of the vernal pools. Which are ideal conditions for growing camassias. Can’t wait to see how these perform over time. They have a reputation for spreading which I’d love for them to spread with vigor here.

The resident raven population in Ravenswood Gardens holds particular significance. As their natural range is far from Southwest Michigan. It is worthy of documentation and study and my intentions include raising awareness, archiving and reporting Raven sightings to get them on the map.

Irises Pseudatas out of Jill Copelands collection now growing here. Also a particularly nice Iris versicolor I selected out of a wild population. Noteworthy for having purple foliage during it’s spring flush! Iris are most notable for their flowers but there are also interesting and patterned leaves!
