Update on recent safety threat and district response

CISD Community,

I would like address the threat received today at CISD and add clarity for full transparency.

We want to acknowledge and thank everyone for their cooperation in handling the recent safety threat. The district acted swiftly, and in accordance with our established safety policies to ensure the continued safety of our students and staff. At no time were students or staff in immediate danger.

Timeline of events and actions:

5:00 p.m. — Threat reported/received after hours via email.

5:05 p.m. — Campus safety director and local law lenforcement notified of incident.

5:10 p.m. — Campus Safety Director arrived at school.

5:15 p.m. — The student witness arrived at the school to give statement; this was conveyed through their parents.

5:30 p.m. — TCSO arrived at school to investigate.

6:15 p.m. — A second witness provided a statement.

7:00 p.m. — Parents were notified via the Remind app with accurate details about the situation.

Ongoing — An investigation was conducted in coordination with the school district and local law enforcement and is ongoing. Updates to follow.

We understand the importance of timely communication and ongoing vigilance. We remain committed to a thorough review of the incident and to the safety of every student and staff member. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the School District Directly.

Huge congratulations to all the CISD winners of the 2025 Best of Tyler County! Our community proves time and again how strong, supportive, and proud we are. This momentum, along with the amazing people in CISD, means this is going to be an outstanding year for our school district.

This is amazing! Thank you to whoever nominated me for the Best School Board Member of Tyler County. It’s truly an honor just to be on this list!

I want to recognize that it takes a dedicated team of eight, along with our entire community, to help guide and direct our school districts—especially in today’s challenging times. Serving on a school board is a selfless job that involves long hours, scrutiny, and both criticism and praise. It requires someone committed to seeing things through and making tough decisions for the best interests of our children.

If you’re feeling generous, I encourage you to nominate Kelly Eddins, myself, or any CISD Trustee for the Best Board Members of Tyler County. And please consider nominating all things CISD—we have a special community that truly deserves recognition!
