“As a history teacher, I was personally inspired that Peter continued to serve, often by educating young people.”

NHD teacher Pat Sprinkle and his students spent the 2025-2026 school year researching the life and service of Corporal Peter Humberto Fabregas. After serving in World War II at Iwo Jima and during the Korean War, Fabregas became a history teacher on Long Island! Hear from Mr. Sprinkle about Peter and the experiences his students had as historians being part of NHD’s Silent Heroes Program.
