Our chapter is very excited to introduce our new faculty advisor, Dr.
Natasha Andrade! Dr. Andrade is a faculty member in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. She teaches various undergraduate courses in the area of environmental engineering and study abroad courses in Iceland, Costa Rica, and Peru. Her research focuses on understanding how engineering and society fit together and she is currently working on a project that aims to understand how engineering students make sense of the interaction between technology and social issues and responsibility. Dr. Andrade is involved with several undergraduate students’ organizations, and she thrives in this environment. Her discipline research revolves around mercury contamination of Amazon regions that were deforested by small scale and illegal gold mining. Another area of research is related to the production of stabilized biosolids, focusing on its use as a fertilizer and its impact on environmental pollution concerning organic contaminants. Outside of work, she enjoys nature, hiking, snorkeling, biking, and a new-found passion for rock climbing. We are so excited to have such a great role model working with our sisters!
