The Eta Theta Chapter at University of Maryland of America's First Social Fraternity, Chi Phi The Chi Phi Fraternity is the OLDEST social fraternity in America.
Chi Phi was founded on the values of truth, honor, and personal integrity and was founded originally in the year 1824 at Princeton University. Later, groups that had formed under the Chi Phi banner simultaneously in the North & South (unbeknownst to each other) joined to form what is now known as the Chi Phi Fraternity in 1874. We are the Eta Theta Chapter of Chi Phi here at the University of Mary
land. Although we are relatively new on campus, our influence can be seen in many different areas of University life including, charity, sports, academics, and relations with other university clubs/groups. Along with having the longest history of any other Fraternity on campus we are also some of the most talented & clever students at Maryland, with degrees ranging from Vocal music performance to Engineering. We’ve also had members start their own organizations on campus in the last few years. Going Greek is a big decision and we feel it can only add positively to your college experience. Greeks have higher GPA’s, more opportunities to network and find internships, bigger social groups, and are more likely to be involved with other campus organizations whether they be clubs, sports teams, or even student government. We know joining Chi Phi will be the best decision you’ve ever made, because that’s how every one of our brothers feel.
