Hi Colchester 1986 alumni,

I hope this note finds you well! I’m Doc (Jim) Waters’ daughter. I found your email address through the CHS alumni webpage. I’m writing to ask if you would be willing to send Doc a card or write a note for his 90th birthday. The note needs to arrive by May 20, 2021.

You may have had Doc as a chemistry or math teacher in your years at CHS. Doc is turning 90 years old in May, and now lives in Washington state, far from Vermont and his old friends and students. I was hoping that for his 90th birthday, I might be able to get some of his former students to send him greeting cards with appreciations, memories, or updates on your lives.

If you are willing, here are two ways to do it:

1) You can just respond to this email with a greeting. I will forward it to him on his birthday.

Sadly we have lost a friend and fellow classmate, Jen Clare. She will be dearly missed.

This is from her children...

Yesterday my mother ended her battle with an ongoing illness. She had been admitted into the hospital a little over week ago, and when it was clear she wasn’t going to make it, we brought her home where she spent her last few days surrounded by family. In her usual fashion of not wanting to draw attention to herself, she waited to pass until my sister and I had both stepped out of the room to take a phone call. Her final moments were spent the way we all knew she would have wanted: at home, during a sunny afternoon, in front of the river.

My siblings and I ask for a little space while we try to grasp all the loss we’ve experienced in the last decade.
