Charlie Vinch Helping Martial Artist become the best version of themselves.

Most gym owners focus on training.
Very few focus on presentation.

How you look.
How you speak.
How you communicate value.

All of it matters.

This video?
It’s intentional.

Talking about 10-minute rounds.
ADCC.
High-level competition.

That’s not what a brand new student is looking for.
They don’t even know what that means.

Because before someone ever steps on your mat…
they’ve already decided what they think about you.

This isn’t how I show up for my business.
And it shouldn’t be how you show up for yours.

People always ask me how I stay consistent…
how I run a gym, be a present father, and still train.

Honestly, I’m not sure — it just feels natural to me.

But if I’m being real… it wasn’t always like that.

There were nights I didn’t know if the business would survive.
Injuries that forced me to slow down.
Moments where quitting would’ve been easier.

Somewhere in all of that, discipline stopped being a choice…
and became who I am.

I don’t rely on motivation.
I rely on standards.

Show up.
Lead from the front.
Handle what needs to be handled.

That’s it.

People still think of me as just a fighter.

And they’re not wrong.

That chapter of my life taught me discipline, toughness, and how to keep going when things get hard.

But life had other plans.

Injuries.
Surgeries.
Opening a gym from nothing.
Sleepless nights wondering if the doors would stay open.

Somewhere along the way I realized something.

The real fight isn’t in the cage.

It’s building something that lasts.

Leading people.
Raising good kids.
Showing up every day when nobody is watching.

The fighter never left.

The mission just got bigger.

My motto is: “Ready. Fire. Aim.” 🔥

Perfection is paralysis.

Most people wait until everything feels aligned.
They plan. They tweak. They hesitate.

I move.

Take action on the goal.
Gather data.
Adjust.
Lock in.

You don’t find clarity by thinking — you find it by doing.

Speed exposes weakness.
Action reveals truth.
Adjustment wins.

That’s why I don’t “Aim. Ready. Fire.”

I fire. Then I sharpen the aim.

In case you’re new here—
I’m Charlie Vinch.

I’m outspoken because comfort lies don’t build real strength.

I show people how to overcome obstacles that feel impossible—without sugarcoating it, without motivation fluff, and without pretending it’s easy.

I’ve gone through multiple surgeries.
I’ve built and run gyms in different locations across America.
I’ve carried payroll, complaints, uncertainty, and responsibility when quitting would’ve been easier.

All while earning my black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—and raising a family in the middle of it.

This page is where I tell you what actually works, what doesn’t, and what sounds good online but fails in real life.

No hype.
No fake confidence.
No BS.

How to Counter top knee smash pass!

🚨 Grabbed from behind? Here’s what actually works. 🚨

If someone hooks under your arms and tries to lift you, your goal is base, balance, and break their control — not panic.

⬇️ Drop your weight
🦶 Widen your stance
🦾 Control the arms
⚡ Create space and escape

Train reactions so your body responds before fear takes over.

👊 Knowledge is power. Training is protection.

Someone grabs your neck from behind…
You don’t panic.
You respond.

Training turns fear into automatic action.
That’s the difference. 🥋💪

Most black belts don’t want to hear this… 🥋

Being a great martial artist does not automatically make you a great school owner.
And being a great school owner doesn’t automatically mean the Jiu-Jitsu you teach is worth anything either.

The industry loves to polarize you:
– “Be the purist and stay broke.”
– “Be the businessman and water everything down.”

The truth? The schools that win long-term are dangerous in both:
– Solid, honest martial arts that actually work
– Real systems, pricing, and leadership that keep the doors open

In 2026, stop choosing sides.
Become the black belt on the mats and in the business.

If this stung a little, it’s probably for you

Some paths never really separate — they just pause.

Over 20 years ago, we met in New Jersey, two guys chasing BJJ/MMA, training in cold rooms with big dreams. Life happened. Time passed. Different chapters.

Yesterday, we reconnected at a seminar like no time had passed at all.

That’s the wild thing about martial arts —
it gives you brothers for life, even when decades sit in between the conversations.

Thank you Tom DeBlass for the incredible seminar yesterday and for everything you continue to give to the martial arts community.

Grateful for the journey, the lessons, and the friendship.
Honored to still be walking this path.

🤍🥋
