Let's try something new! Can your child solve this riddle?
This thing has a cover
But it is not a bed
It has many pages
And is something that's read
Let me know their guesses in the comments!

Is your child struggling with word problems? Maybe a visual aid can help. Try having them draw the problem!
For example, let's say your child's homework has the following word problem:
"Suzy has 9 balloons. She gives 4 to Rachel. How many balloons does Suzy have left?"
Have your child draw Suzy (don't worry, stick figures will suffice) with her 9 balloons. Once those have been drawn, tell your child to cross out the 4 balloons that Suzy gave to Rachel. They can then count how many balloons are left to solve the problem: 9-4=5.
Let me know if you try it!

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
As an educator, I recognize the importance of education and the opportunities it brings. We are grateful for the freedom we have to learn and teach, made possible by the sacrifices of our fallen heroes.
Let us honor their memory by fostering a love for learning, embracing diversity, and empowering our students to become compassionate, informed, and engaged citizens.

This quote from Aesop's fable "The Lion and the Mouse" holds true even today. Every little act of kindness can make a big impact on someone's life. So let's spread love and kindness, even in the smallest ways possible.

This isn't considered a "dad joke," is it? 😜

Does your child have access to books in their own bedroom? No?
Why not?? Having easy accessibility to anything you want your child to interact with is the most important part of creating those healthy habits. If your child is constantly walking past a shelf full of books with their favorite stories or characters, they are going to eventually decide to pick one up.
After all, who can resist a good book??

As the great Dr. Seuss once said:
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go."
I can't imagine where I would be without reading. If you work to instill a love of reading in your children, they will do great things.

Problem solving is the foundation of mathematics. If you're looking for ways to help your child succeed in math, encouraging them to develop creative problem solving skills is a great way to do it! An easy way to start is to provide them with games or activities that help develop those skills. This can be anything from puzzles and board games to oragami! It doesn't necessarily have to involve numbers because we are trying to develop the problem solving skills which will be helpful in development of math skills.
