Thinking Like 18th-Century Engineers!

Fourth-grade students in Lynnae Robert’s class at put the Engineering Design Process into action as they designed model forts inspired by Fort Loudoun.

Students were challenged to engineer a fort that would protect people, support relationships with allies, and work within the environment where it was built. Through planning, designing, building, and problem-solving, students stepped into the role of 18th-century engineers while bringing history and STEM together!

What a great example of hands-on learning across content areas! 🏗️💡

Taylor Elementary School kicked off the day with hands-on professional learning in the STEM Hub, Lending Library & Technology Learning Center!

Teachers collaborated to build LEGO® mini models and explored the newly released LEGO Computer Science & AI Kits for grades 3–5. They also learned about the STEM Hub's lending inventory, support services, and how engaging STEM experiences can be delivered directly to their schools through the STEM Hub Express.

One of the highlights of the morning was experiencing the activities from a student's perspective—collaborating, creating, problem-solving, and discovering just how engaging hands-on STEM learning can be.

We can't wait to see these exciting experiences make their way into Taylor Elementary classrooms! Bradley County Schools Bradley Cleveland Public Education Foundation
