Watching “Sprint,” a Netflix series, reminded me that many weak and insecure people have subjected our black woman athletes to hateful statements because they defied the “norm.” Athletes like Sha'Carri Richardson, Simone Biles, Serena Williams, and Angel Reese, though, have one thing in common: they are all winners. Black girl magic prevails, as it has in the past and will in the future.

I found this shirt looking for clothes I could donate to disabled veterans. Me and this tee-shirt got history. I bought it in the 90s when I was playing tennis. I’m playing golf now, and this shirt is still relevant.

I made the mistake of wearing it when I was in Brazil. Folks down there began raising their fists when I walked by, saying, “Right on, brother.” I said to myself that I needed to take it off before I started a revolution.

We need to support these young warrior sisters coming into their womanhood and not parrot the haters. It didn't start with Angel and Serena and it's not going to stop there. What they need right now is the nurturance of the village.
