Don’t know how various BS has taken over this site when I scroll through it, but perhaps this will still reach some of our classmates. It’s time for updates on your life which, if things are nothing worth writing about, you can always send in info on your children or grandchildren. OK, that’s done. Now what?

So upset to have to relay the news of my dear friend and our classmate Bill Talley’s passing. Jewish tradition has the expression “May his memory be for a blessing.” I know that all of my memories with him from Hawken and beyond, will be. May God rest your soul.

Time once again for class updates. You should have received an email from the alumni office to send something to me. I know at our age not much seems new, but send something anyway. It’s all new to your classmates. Thanks.

Sad to report the passing of our classmate David Yen. This is from his husband should anyone wish to attend the service.

Dear Friends,

I trust that you received an email from me sent early this morning, informing you that David Yen passed away on March 2. This is a follow-up email to provide information about the upcoming memorial celebration.

The event will take place at the Hawken Upper School on Sunday, March 6th from 2-3 pm in the Kennedy Auditorium. The address is 12465 County Line Rd, Chesterland, OH 44026. Note that this is distinct from the Hawken Lower School, which is at an entirely different location.

Following the memorial celebration, there will be an opportunity to visit with family and friends. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
Guests may attend the memorial celebration in person or by Zoom. Hi all-

The following letter was posted by Eleanor Anderson at the alumni office. I’d like to see who is planning on coming if we have a class party. We could figure something out if enough people are in, so post a response here if you read this and we’ll give it a week or so to see how many yeses we have. Steve Beihle responded and I’m assuming Kathy Ko would be a yes. I’ll participate so that’s 3! Anyone else?

I hope this finds you all well! Unless a COVID variant pops into the equation, we are now full steam ahead with planning Homecoming Reunion Weekend for September 24-26! This Reunion Weekend will be a MEGA year with over 20 classes (those ending with 0,1,5 and 6) convening with a lot of other fun activities planned on the Hawken Gates Mills campus. While we take care of everything else – creating a registration page, collecting payments, etc., I’d love your help planning the Class of ’81 reunion party for Saturday, September 25 and help promote the weekend to other classmates.

As you may know your classmate, Kathy Ko Chin, is being honored this weekend so it would be great to have a big cheering section! As the class of 1975 will also be celebrating a reunion, a joint party could be organized!

With the hopes that you’re on board to help plan a party and promote the weekend, I am attaching a class list with contact information.

In addition, we’re happy to set up a Zoom link for a class virtual gathering so you can chat with classmates about plans, etc. Several classes have asked us to do this and it’s be super successful!

Anyone start Zoom and making a fortune during the pandemic, and willing to talk about it? Someone find themselves in a Covid safe bubble with Tom Hanks and LeBron? Let me know what's going on.
