The last day of school for the 2014-2015 school year is June 5, 2015.

Dear Parents of John Dewey Students,

As we come to the close of another school year, we are pleased to announce our Summer Reading Program for 2015! This year, your student will receive a packet including summer reading books and activities before they leave for break. Students will receive an incentive for submitting their completed packet. In order for your student to receive the incentive, all activities must
be completed when they return in August for the start of the 2015-2016 school year.

Students are encouraged not to wait until the end of summer to start the program; summer is the perfect time to develop a love of reading for enjoyment as well as for learning. Some books can be rather lengthy, so a designated reading time of at least 20 minutes per day would be suggested.

They should also not feel limited to the program, visit our local Warrensville Heights Library for additional reading material and enjoy!

Please join us at John Dewey Elementary School for Global Youth Service Day on April 17, 2015 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. This event is being hosted by AmeriCorps (Ohio Reading Corps).

The activities on this day will include:
-Grounds cleanup
-Cleaning flowerbeds
-Planting flowers
-Putting mulch down
-General spring cleanup

This event is weather permitting, if there is rain the event will be rescheduled.

We have reached the home stretch, today is our first day in school for the fourth quarter.

We are excited to welcome our staff and students back with some great news! With the support of our staff, students, and families we have raised $1042.13 to support to work of the Providence House. Let's rock these fourth quarter fundraisers out of the park!

Our spring break is from April 3 - April 12. School will resume on Monday, April 13, 2015.
