Hello FB Fam!
On Saturday, September 7, 2024, Students of Promise in partnership with Imani Temple Ministries and The Cleveland Metro Alliance of Black School Educators, hosted our annual Back-to-School Rally and Teacher Appreciation Day at Imani Temple, the future home of the Students of Promise Leadership Academy for Excellence.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our partners, sponsors, volunteers, and participants who contributed to the success of this event. With over 200 attendees, we celebrated a vibrant day of student, family, community engagement, and appreciation.
The event featured an array of activities and services, including free food, a school supply and “swag bag” giveaway courtesy of Case Western Reserve University and The Tamir Rice Foundation, complimentary haircuts by “JoeKutWright” and the Black Barbers Club, 20 community resource tables and service providers, interactive activities by the Cleveland Foundry, STEM/Ai presentations by RoboLand, music by Edward “DJ” Phatty Banks, performances by the Warrensville Heights High School Marching Tigers and a tribute to the Late Senator CJ Prentiss by State School Board Member Merle Johnson.
Please enjoy this brief video slideshow recap of the day’s events. (Background music is courtesy of Dee Tutu, a recording artist I met from our Students of Promise visit to Ghana, West Africa last fall, and is available for download on Apple Music.)

Hello Facebook Friends and Family. It is with such a heavy heart I humbly come to you to ask that you join me in supporting the fund to lay to rest an amazing young man, son, brother, and recent graduate of my program, Students of Promise USA. I had the pleasure of working with Christen from the 9th to 12 grade, who was tragically killed recently in a car accident in Cleveland. It was such a pleasure to take this young man under my wing on many occasions as seen in the images below.
As his family mourns his untimely death, please let us as his village come together with a donation of any amount to assist with expenses associated with homegoing arrangements.
Please share this post throughout your social media network and circle of friends of family.
Thank you in advance for clicking the gofundme link provided to support this family along with your prayers in however God moves you to respond.
