Today we celebrated Ash Wednesday Mass, marking the beginning of Lent — a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as we prepare for Easter and the Resurrection of Jesus.

CCCHS students gathered with their St. Stanislaus prayer partners to receive ashes and reflect on our need for God’s mercy and grace.

“Create in us a clean heart, O God. Renew our spirit. Amen.” ✝️

CCC Alumnus Shares Adventures from a Life as a National Park Ranger

In Adventures with Friends: Becoming a National Park Ranger, Cleveland Central Catholic High School alumnus Paul Blados ’73 reflects on how a simple conversation with CCCHS guidance counselors helped shape a lifelong career in the outdoors. Inspired by the Youth Conservation Corps—modeled after the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s—Paul and fellow alumnus Jim Baker ’74 spent a formative summer working in Ohio’s Wayne National Forest, building trails and learning the value of conservation and teamwork.

That experience led both alumni to pursue studies at what is now Hocking College, where hands-on education in wildlife ecology, land management, and environmental studies prepared them for meaningful careers. Jim went on to serve as an Ohio State Game Warden, while Paul became a National Park Ranger, working in iconic parks including Grand Teton, Cuyahoga Valley, and Wrangell–St. Elias. Paul’s book captures the adventures, challenges, and lasting impact of those years—and stands as a testament to the role Cleveland Central Catholic played in helping students discover their calling.
