A special summer opportunity for two of our students.

Keith Baker Jr. and Josh Nagy spent five weeks at the Aspire Music Performance Intensive at Berklee College of Music, one of the most respected music programs in the world. The experience brought new discoveries, new friendships, and meaningful moments that will shape their musicianship and their lives.

Pictured with Keith and Josh were two of the instructors who helped prepare them for this opportunity: Darren Frate and Ken LeeGrand, whose mentorship at The Music Settlement continues to open doors for young musicians across Cleveland.

Congratulations to our own Geri Presti, named to the Cleveland 230!

We are proud to share that Geralyn Presti, President and CEO of The Music Settlement, has been honored by the Cleveland Public Library as part of the Cleveland 230, a recognition of individuals whose work, leadership, and impact reflect the spirit and strength of our city.

In its tribute, the CPL describes Geri as a mentor and a formidable leader who embodies the very essence of leadership. Her energetic spirit and passionate, positive outlook have shaped her tenure at the helm of TMS, a 114-year-old community music school and cultural anchor in Cleveland.

Under Geri's leadership, TMS has grown into an organization where all voices are welcomed, represented, heard, and able to participate fully in the arts. That vision continues to reach students, families, clients, and audiences every day across our University Circle and Ohio City campuses, and BOP STOP.

Congratulations, Geri. We are honored to work alongside you.

The future of Cleveland's music and arts scene begins with our youth.

Every young person deserves access to music and arts education, no matter their zip code or family income. Yet high costs and budget cuts across K-12 music programming continue to make access a real challenge for families across our region.

We are proud that our own Geri Presti, President and CEO of The Music Settlement, will be part of the conversation. Geri has spent her leadership championing the belief that music transforms lives and that every child deserves the chance to experience it.

On Friday, August 14, join a forum at The City Club of Cleveland on why accessible arts education matters for our youth, our communities, and the leadership, creativity, and arts economy of tomorrow.

Registration closes tomorrow for The Tree-tment Plan: Growing in Behavioral Health, a workshop for music therapy professionals.

Behavioral health work asks a lot of you, whether you are early in your career or a seasoned clinician. This continuing education workshop is built around what helps a practice last. On August 8, the Center for Music Therapy at The Music Settlement brings together two sessions worth your day.

Megan McCausland, MPA, LPMT, MT-BC and Anthony Steward, MA, LPMT, MT-BC of Cleveland Clinic lead a two-hour session on self-care, professional identity, and advanced clinical competencies. After lunch, Ronna Kaplan, MA, LPMT, MT-BC, past president of the American Music Therapy Association and recent recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award, leads a roundtable on six decades of music therapy in the community setting.

Three CMTE credits. Lunch included. Open to music therapists, creative arts therapists, behavioral health professionals, and students.

In the News: A story from The Land spotlights how the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Music House is not just an expansion of our campus, it is an expansion of our commitment to the community that has shaped The Music Settlement for 114 years.

The project will add more than 17,000 square feet of renovated space and 14 new studios, along with a covered patio for free open-air concerts, a music technology lab, and a new public playground. Every feature is designed to open our doors wider to the neighborhood and to Greater Cleveland.

As Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne told The Land, "They have done a wonderful job of integrating their campus into the neighborhood. They have really made the effort to open their doors to musical education for all."
