I was sitting on the plane headed to San Antonio where I am speaking at WCICON25 on Index fund investing when I realized my phone battery was getting low. I went to get my phone charger and realized I forgot to pack it when I left athe house this morning, a bit bleary eyed haven't gotten up early to catch the first flight out.

I also packed a battery pack so I went searching for it. I packed two battery packs but somehow no USB cable to connect the battery pack to my phone. I usually pack a second charger and cord but somehow neglected to do that as well.

So then it's announced that maintenance is needed for the plane and they are having us deboard, uncertain how long it will actually take. A kiosk across from the gate has phone cables so I found the USB to USB-C cable and bought it.

It was over $30 after tax.

The frugal part of me is super annoyed since I could buy multiple cables for that price from Amazon.

The money coach part of me is grateful that my phone is now charging, and reminds me it's not that much money. I had a problem. Money could solve that problem. I have the money to solve that problem. Spending to solve this problem will in no way cause me hardship. It's not wasting money, it's paying for the service of convenience, to have what I need in the moment that I need it. And it's something useful.

With those new thoughts, I can release the negative feelings of annoyance and not beat myself up for forgetting to pack the appropriate electronics.

This is what it means to work on money mindset.

I unpacked a box last night and found this stained glass window that I made at the Chrysler Glass Studio back when I lived in Virginia. I put it against a window in my kitchen.

Today is a bleak and dreary winter day but these colorful tulips really brightened the view to the backyard when I sat at my kitchen table and brought a smile to my face.

I loved working with glass and the classes at the Chrysler Glass Museum. If you live near Norfolk, VA, I highly recommend it.

Well being can be increased with some things. These small things can add up and lift you up.

The data clearly indicates that index fund investing is the optimal strategy for mutual fund selection, given that most actively managed funds fail to surpass the S&P 500 index despite incurring greater expenses and reduced tax efficiency.

For anyone who needs a little brightness and spring on this winter day, these hydrangeas have such rich color. I love hydrangeas as they can be anywhere from a vibrant blue to a pretty purple or a bright pink.

When you are affected by the weather like I am, sometimes you have to look elsewhere for blue skies and sunshine.

I was offered to sit up in the cockpit of the plane tonight, how fun! Only one other person took the pilot up on his offer. When opportunity presents itself, go for it!

My dream is to travel the world, and I've been actively making that dream my reality. New Zealand marks the 59th country I've explored. (60 if you count Antarctica as a country)

Dreams typically take energy, time, and often money. But living your dreams is so worth it.

Milford Sound is gorgeous. We had amazing blue skies during our cruise of Milford Sound, despite Queenstown being cloudy. The winds were too strong so our scenic flight was cancelled. Luckily, we were able to change to a helicopter flight, turning disappointment into a new opportunity. That's the real value of having money. The views were amazing.

Another amazing day in New Zealand. We went to the Kaikora Seal colony and saw lots of seal pups, so cute!

Then we went swimming with dolphins. We watched as they jumped and did acrobatics. Then we got in the water with them. These are wild dolphins so no telling what will actually happen. One dolphin circled around me and I saw so many of them up close in the water.

Magical

I don't think I've ever seen water that is naturally colored florescent green before. New Zealand is full of wonder.

I spent a magical evening up in the redwood trees surrounded by glowing lanterns.

It was a long wait to go up onto the canopy walk, over an hour. They said the line can be longer than 2 hours. Some things are with the wait. (Especially considering I've waited longer to ride a rollar coaster where the ride lasted less than 3 minutes)
