It was an honor to stand beside my fellow elected officials to celebrate the legacy of those who paved the way for black elected officials from the 11th Congressional District. Thank you Congresswomen Shontel Brown for the invitation to celebrate and honor your legacy.

Today I got to hear capstone projects from students from the 11th congressional district’s Youth Advisory Council. I’m honored to have been personally invited by these 2 stellar scholars from Warrensville High School. I feel inspired by the depth of research and policy recommendations these young people proposed. I am looking forward to connecting them the community networks to continue their work.

2025 NEOBHC Well Angel Award Acceptance Speech
Thank you to the North East Ohio Black Health Coalition for recognizing me with the 2025 Well Angel Award… It is truly an honor and a privilege to accept this recognition.
This past year has not been easy… it has been filled with challenges and hard truths.
As a front-line leader, I’ve learned that speaking out against injustice… and working to dismantle systemic racism and oppression often comes at a cost. You’re met with resistance… and sometimes, direct attacks.
But I am refueled by the mission of doing the work… because if we don’t… no one else will.
I believe it is my duty to serve… to enlighten… and to drive change.
As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “There is never a wrong time to do what is right.”
We must not lose ourselves chasing what is popular… We cannot accept or conform to the attacks on diversity, equity, and anti-racism.
Now is the time… to organize, to strategize, and to act.
• I challenge you to question.
• I challenge you to hold your elected officials accountable.
• I challenge you to take a stand.
Together, we can build a better, more just future… for the generations yet to come.
Thank you again for this honor… and thank you to everyone who continues this fight with courage and conviction.

Today I had the pleasure of moderating the panel discussion at the Annual meeting for EDCOR. What a transformative year for 2024. I’m so proud of the impact our very own community development corporation is making in Euclid.

I had one of the richest professional development experiences and networking opportunities of my life at the NSBA annual conference. I am so excited to take the connections and knowledge back to my district with the hopes of improving public education for all of our students. Some of the common themes were equity still matters, offering opportunities for all students will engage all students, the arts matter, leadership should reflect the values of the community, and we have to protect our black students by engaging in culturally responsive practices. There is so much more I can share but we are in a fight to save public education. We have serious work to do. Your favorite school board member is committed to getting the job done with your support.
