It provides a forum for discussions on all aspects of language arts learning and teaching, primarily as they relate to children in pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade. Issues discuss both theory and classroom practice, highlight current research, and review children's and young adolescent

In “Interrogating Classroom Libraries: From Diversity to Responsiveness and Inclusion,” Aeriale N. Johnson makes a powerful call for educators to shift our thinking from curating diverse classroom libraries and toward curating responsively inclusive ones.

She focuses on sharing a type of children’s literature
that is often sidelined or dismissed: poetry. Johnson
features the work of poet Carole Boston Weatherford
before recommending single-poem picturebooks,
poet biographies, books in verse, and anthologies.
