This past spring, we were proud to host a workshop with the support of South Carolina Farm Bureau focused on helping new collegiate chapters become established and assisting existing chapters in their continued development. The event provided valuable resources, networking opportunities, and guidance for student leaders across the state. We are excited to continue this initiative throughout the coming year and look forward to reaching and supporting even more collegiate chapters.

Yesterday, the Clemson Collegiate Farm Bureau, in partnership with the South Carolina Farm Bureau, hosted the South Carolina Collegiate Farm Bureau Summit: Planting Collegiate Chapters – Cultivating Agriculture & Natural Resources Advocates.

This event brought together universities and technical colleges from across the state to collaborate on developing advocacy programs. Attendees explored opportunities to establish new Collegiate Farm Bureau chapters or strengthen existing ones through strategic development planning. The summit aimed to ensure that each participating institution left with clear next steps and committed student leaders prepared to launch and sustain successful chapters.

We are especially grateful to the institutions that joined us in person, including Piedmont Technical College and South Carolina State University, as well as those who participated virtually.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to the South Carolina Farm Bureau for their partnership and support in making this event possible. Together, we are cultivating the next generation of leaders in agriculture and natural resources through strong collegiate engagement.

On Tuesday, March 24, the CCFB hosted its Ag Issues Forum. With over 40 students in attendance, panelists led an engaging discussion on the current agricultural workforce, labor challenges, and how students can best prepare for meaningful careers in agriculture.

Starting from a social hour for students, members, and industry professionals to interact and network to finishing with listening to an amazing panel of judges we can not be more proud.

The panel featured Ben Cothran, South Carolina Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers representative and Spartanburg County farmer; Kyle Player, Director of Entrepreneurship for the ACRE Program at the South Carolina Department of Agriculture; Ross Williams, President of Titan Farms; and Paula Beecher, Director of Career Services for Clemson University’s College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences.

Events like this play a vital role in preparing students for future opportunities and equipping them with the knowledge and connections needed to succeed in the agricultural workforce. We are so greatful for all attendees and the support of SCFB
