It’s the “The Alchemist” for me.

I didn’t grow up reading a ton. It was hard to retain what I read, but I never found anything that spoke to my imagination like this book.

I didn’t know I was on a path to finding my purpose until I read The Alchemist.

And now, eight years later, every time I read it, I see different parts of myself in every character in this beautiful story of a young man’s journey to find his purpose.

I came all the way to Tennessee to do some cool stuff and so far all I got is this picture of my ass lol!

It’s important to remind myself that life is not about manufacturing happy moments, but finding the truth in the ones that are given to me lol!

I get to choose the difference.

“Once I realized their problems weren’t my problems, this got easier.

Once I realized they were entitled to whatever version of reality they had the capacity for, and that it didn’t have to line up with mine, it got easier.

The only thing left was love … even if we fundamentally disagree on things.”

For the longest time I took the advice of my elders to sit down and shut up. This carried over into adulthood for me.

Only in anger did I speak up and share my thoughts. And I’m still working on this today. The only exception is I’m learning to use my voice to be more useful and to seek understanding for every situation.

I fall down sometimes and say things that may hurt the one’s closest to me but I’m quicker at seeing my errors and learning past that moment.

As I shed more beliefs about myself, I’m understanding more now the magnitude of my voice, the power and responsibility I have to always be seeking and speaking the truth because the hurt it causes when I’m not is unbearable for me.

“Ever evolving. Complete respect and gratitude for each other as Father, Son, and as men.”

I’m grateful to have been granted time to mend fences and see one another where we are and I thank him for showing up every time I call.
