Honoring Indigenous Peoples Day / Columbus Day — October 12

On October 12, our school community recognizes Indigenous Peoples Day / Columbus Day as an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, honor the diverse cultures and contributions of Indigenous peoples, and learn from the history of the land and communities we call home.

Our district is fortunate to have strong ties with local tribal communities and a meaningful partnership with the Yakama Nation. Through this partnership, our students have opportunities to learn about Native American heritage, traditions, history, and the enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples in our region.

We are grateful for the knowledge, perspectives, and cultural learning shared with our students and staff. These connections help us foster greater understanding and respect for the rich history and living cultures of the Indigenous communities who have called this region home since time immemorial.

This October 12, we invite our community to reflect, learn, and recognize the important place Indigenous history and heritage hold in our shared community.

October 2nd is National Custodian Day and we want to take a moment recognize the dedicated custodians who help make our schools clean, safe, welcoming places to learn and work!

From early mornings to the end of the school day, our custodial teams work behind the scenes to care for our buildings and support our students, staff, and families.

Thank you for all you do for our school community. We appreciate you today and every day!

Please join us in celebrating Berlinda Morua on her retirement after 21.5 years of dedicated service as a Bus Driver for our district!

Berlinda began her career as one of our special needs drivers before working her way to Route A. In addition to safely transporting generations of students, she also served as PSE President for several years, advocating for and supporting her colleagues along the way. Outside of work, Berlinda has enjoyed attending plays and cheering on athletes at girls volleyball games.

Thank you, Berlinda, for your years of commitment, leadership, and care for our students and staff. We wish you all the best in your retirement!
