Dear Clatskanie Virtual Academy Families,

We are writing to inform you that the Clatskanie Virtual Academy will be closing at the conclusion of the 2025–26 school year and will not operate during the 2026–27 school year.

This decision was not made lightly. Over time, the District has experienced low enrollment in the program, limited student attendance and engagement, and increasing costs associated with maintaining the program. After careful review, the District determined that continuing the program is no longer sustainable.
Students currently enrolled in CVA are welcome and encouraged to complete their current courses through the remainder of this school year. As we prepare for the 2026–27 school year, families may choose to enroll their student at Clatskanie Elementary School or Clatskanie Middle/High School. Families who wish to continue with an online learning option may also explore other Oregon virtual school programs.

Please also return your district-issued Chromebook and any related equipment to the District Office located at 660 SW Bryant St., Clatskanie, OR 97016, no later than June 15, 2026.

We understand this change may create questions for families, and we are committed to supporting students through this transition.

🌟 Rachel’s Challenge is coming to Clatskanie Elementary! 🌟

We’re excited to partner with Rachel’s Challenge
— a nationally recognized program that helps schools reduce bullying, prevent school violence, and inspire acts of kindness and compassion.

📅 Tuesday, November 19
🕕 6:00–7:00 p.m.
📍 Clatskanie Elementary School

During the day, CES students will take part in special Rachel’s Challenge assemblies:

Grades K–4: Link Up! Assembly

Grades 5–6: Rachel’s Story and Rachel’s Challenge Workshop

Then, that evening, we invite students ages 12 and up, families, and community members to join us for a free Community Event featuring the same inspiring message of connection and kindness.

✨ Free daycare will be available for families with younger children.

Let’s come together as a community to create a culture of empathy, kindness, and hope. ❤️
