Bright Stars Academy

100000 days locked inside due to snow, Valentines parties, and excavating dinosaur fossils have been our lives the past few weeks! We have learned about Garrett Morgan and his invention of the stoplight, and studied up on Rosa Parks and how she changed the world with her bravery. We have spent a lot of time this month talking about equality and diversity, and how important it is to treat every single person with respect.

I love these babies and getting to see their imaginations shine and their relationships deepen! Here’s to warm, sunny days in our near future!

Our PreK friends at Bright Stars Academy have had an action-packed and meaningful couple weeks of learning! We played superheroes while getting an early start on Black History Month, celebrating heroes who have made and are making a difference. We explored ice sensory play, building curiosity and hands-on learning, and continued strengthening our relationship skills by practicing kind communication, teamwork, and expressing our feelings with friends.

I’m so proud, and so thankful to get to see the growth with these babies (big kids😢) every day.💕🔆🌨️

We have been busy these past few weeks - celebrating the holidays and building relationships! We are looking forward to a new year full of new friendships, new adventures, and lots of learning. 🥰🎄🎊🔆

The past few weeks have been busy! My friends have learned about compromise, and how to work together as a team. We demonstrated these new skills by drawing up plans to build our own structures, and then executing said plans with toothpicks and marshmallows!

We have also gone full Christmas mode over here - music and all. 🎄🥰

I am in the process of completing the middle of the year assessments - and the growth I’m seeing has me all emotional! These babies are learning and growing, and I thank God that I get to be a part of it all. 🔆💕📚✨

This week is all about fairy tales! So far we have read Jack & the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs. After reading, we practiced sequencing to retell the stories, as well as identifying the beginning, middle, and endings.

We also introduced the vocabulary word “gratitude” this week, and we will be continuing to explore its meaning leading up to Thanksgiving. 🥰

We had so much fun with our apple investigations this week! We made predictions about whether the apples would sink or float, and tested out our theories with an experiment. We measured and compared the apples, and then cut into them to examine and count their seeds. Finally, of course, we ate them! A couple of my friends said they wanted to take some seeds home to grow their own apple trees - so I’m expecting some fresh apples in 7-10 years! 🤣🍎🥰

We have been LOVING the beautiful fall weather this week! Plenty of outside time has been so good for our souls. ☀️🦋🌟🍂🌻🍃

Our focus this week has been on nocturnal animals, specifically bats! We have explored multiple stories that helped us learn about the lives of nocturnal animals. We have also been focusing on honesty - what it means, and why it is important. 💕

When I say I am blessed to care for these babies, I mean it! The connections they have formed are incomparable, and every single day they are learning and growing in remarkable ways. It is a privilege to be a witness to it all. 🥰

Over the past couple of weeks at Bright Stars Academy, we’ve been busy exploring and learning together! We wrapped up our Five Senses theme, and introduced one of my faves - Outer Space! 🚀☄️🪐

Along the way, we introduced the word resilience - talking about how it means to keep trying, even when something feels hard. Watching my friends practice resilience in small but meaningful ways, and encouraging their peers to do the same, has been such a special part of our learning journey!

This week at Bright Stars Academy, we’re learning all about our five senses and the importance of responsibility! We kicked off our classroom jobs, giving each child a chance to take on a special role and contribute to our classroom community.

For our reading lesson, we took our learning outside, using our senses to take notes on what we heard, saw, and experienced in nature. And to make things even more fun, we created oobleck—a silly, squishy mixture that let us explore with both sight and touch!!

This week, I have really been able to notice the growth in my students. They are including, encouraging, and supporting one another - and I couldn’t be prouder. 🔆🦋⭐️📝🌿

This week we’re continuing our conversations about community helpers—but with a special focus on how working together makes our world better! My friends have been learning that just like community helpers, when we share, help, and support each other, we can accomplish amazing things!
