Today MSDH is reporting an additional 5,023 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 31 deaths. Twelve deaths occurred between August 10 and August 12, and nineteen deaths occurred between June 1 and August 8, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases is now 381,147, with 7,761 deaths.

Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified nine additional COVID-19 cases in residents of long-term care facilities, and three additional deaths. Current outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities have increased again, to 166.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is free, safe and is proving effective at preventing illness, hospitalization and death. You can be vaccinated at any of our free sites, or at hundreds of providers statewide.
