The minor in African American Studies offers students a Black-centered, Pan-Africanist, interdisciplinary course of study.
Study broad as well as work/volunteer assignments are available for students pursuing the minor.

The African American Studies program in collaboration with the APSU Department of Theatre and Dance will host a West African Dance masterclass on Thursday, February 9, from 10am-11am in the Memorial Health Dance Studios. The guest instructor is Omisade Eniafe with live percussion from Maria Estes. The masterclass is free and open to all APSU students, faculty, and staff. (Please arrive early to warm-up). Assistant Professor, Eboné Amos, along with three students from the Theatre and Dance, will present a short dance work for the U.S. Colored Troops Monument unveiling on Saturday, June 18 at 9am, as a part of multiple events scheduled to celebrate Juneteenth Freedom Day. The performance and unveiling will take place at Fort Defiance, in Clarksville, TN. M***e and congratulations to all involved!
