Today is a very special day. A moment I couldn’t conceive of when I began my coaching journey in December 2012 has arrived. After passing my Credentialing exam this afternoon, I cleared the final marker and have officially been recognized as a Master Certified Coach by the International Coaching Federation. This represents the culmination of almost 300 hours of training and nearly 3,000 hours of paid professional coaching over a ten-plus year period. The MCC credential also requires passing a coaching skill evaluation in practice, as any applicant must submit recorded sessions for measurement against the highest standard of coaching skill.

I know this initial phase is the beginning of a long journey with coaching, as I am enamored with the practice of supporting people in realizing the value of becoming who they were created to be. This has been an incredible experience and I eagerly look forward to all that is to come.

Don’t you ever sell yourself short. Do not let doubts rob you of your dreams. Sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, you will realize your purpose. You were made to live it, fully.

As I’ve come to understand more about Clifton Strengths, I’ve learned to appreciate the importance of my full Top Ten in rounding out the picture of my Strengths. Given how relationship-oriented I’ve always felt, it was strange to me that I had nothing from the Relationship Building domain in my top five. Interestingly, though, when you zoom out to my Top 10, Relationship Building becomes a co-dominant domain with Influencing (although I have a pretty even distribution across all four). I love the opportunity to understand myself, why I do what I do the WAY I do it, and how it may be complimentary to my team in any context. If you’ve explored your Clifton Strengths, what stands out to you? What do you appreciate about yourself that maybe you didn’t previously?
