It's time for another edition of Science Through Little Eyes! 👀
Over the summer, we'll be sharing artwork from our friends at Little Govs Child Learning Center as they answer the big question: What is science?
Today's entry comes to us from Theodore! If your little Gov would like to submit some artwork based on what they think science is, send those pictures along to Colby Wilson at [email protected]!

America has lost roughly half of its historical grasslands—one of the greatest yet least recognized conservation challenges of our time.
In a recent ABC News feature, Dr. Dwayne Estes of the Southeastern Grasslands Institute highlighted a reality many Americans never learned: grasslands once covered vast portions of the Southeast and supported extraordinary biodiversity. Today, these ecosystems are among the most endangered on Earth, with many remnants surviving only in small fragments along roadsides, powerlines, and overlooked landscapes.
That's why the America's Grasslands Coalition is working to raise awareness and build support for conserving and restoring grasslands across the nation. Healthy grasslands provide habitat for pollinators and wildlife, support rural economies, improve water quality, store carbon underground, and preserve an irreplaceable part of America's natural heritage.
The future of grasslands depends on all of us recognizing their value before more of these remarkable ecosystems disappear.
