Mercer gave me plenty to smile about this week! Our student’s were excited about their new playground blacktop and freshly painted lines and that excitement carried right into the classrooms. So much enthusiasm for learning and staff going above and beyond for their kids.

I love getting to spend time in our schools. Being alongside our students and the people who care so much about them is a pretty great way to spend part of my day. Thank you, Mercer staff, for all you do!

And a big shoutout to the Mercer Elementary PTO and everyone supporting MOVE for MERCER. You helped make those playground improvements happen and the kids are loving it!

A delicious breakfast and a well deserved celebration for our Forest Hills bus drivers!

Our drivers reached their September attendance goals and I was honored to be there to celebrate with them. Showing up each day matters to the students looking for a familiar face behind the wheel and to the families trusting us with their children.

I hope our drivers know how much we appreciate them. The care they bring to their routes helps shape how our students begin and end their school day. That’s a pretty special role to play.

Thank you for being there for our kids and for one another. You truly keep our students at the heart of every mile!

Friday Night Lights in the Forest takes me to my first Turpin vs. Anderson football matchup! I’ve heard a lot about this one and I’m excited to be there tonight to celebrate our students and enjoy it all with our community.

I have a feeling I’ll be asked a few times who I’m cheering for…so here’s my answer. I ❤️ Forest Hills! Proud to represent both schools and looking forward to seeing our students bring their energy to the field, the sidelines and the stands.

Before we get the rivalry going tonight, tell me…what do YOU love about Forest Hills? I’m still learning so much about our district and I’d love to hear what makes it special to you.

Such a special afternoon celebrating two people who have given so much to Forest Hills School District.

Today we celebrated Jodie McKinley and Jeanne Ralston as they head into retirement with more than 55 years of dedicated service between them. That is a whole lot of life spent showing up for our district and the people who call it home.

I loved seeing staff, friends and community members from across the years come back to celebrate them. For me, it was also another chance to learn about the history of Forest Hills through the people who helped shape it. Hearing their stories and seeing those connections gave me an even deeper appreciation for all that Jeanne and Jodie have been part of here.

Jeanne and Jodie…thank you for the heart you have put into your work and for the countless ways you have cared for Forest Hills. An afternoon of celebration hardly feels like enough to thank you for decades of dedication but I hope you felt just how much you mean to this district. Your impact will be felt for decades to come.

We will miss you both so much…and we are so happy for you as you begin this next chapter. You have certainly earned it! 💚

Just a reminder…….we would love to see our Forest Hills School District students apply!

Some of the most important perspectives on our schools come from the students who experience them every day. I want to hear from our students!

Applications are now open for the Superintendent Student Advisory Council! Students in grades K–12 across Forest Hills are invited to apply with separate elementary and secondary councils bringing voices from every school into the conversation.

This is a chance for students to sit down with me share what school feels like from their perspective and help shape what comes next. I’m excited to hear what they love about Forest Hills and where they see opportunities to make their experience even better.

Meetings will take place at Central Office during the school day, with dates to be determined. Students selected for the council will be expected to attend each meeting.

📅 Apply by Monday, October 5. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by Wednesday, October 14.

Families, please talk with your students about this opportunity. Their voices matter… and I can’t wait to listen!

I wish I could have spent even more time hearing all the stories at Turpin’s 50th Anniversary celebration! It was such a joy to meet alumni and former staff members and watch generations come together for a walk down memory lane. You could feel how much Turpin means to them.

I loved seeing our current students showcase their work as we celebrated the history they’re now part of too. We recognized the four most recent Turpin principals and heard the debut of “Golden Jubilee,” composed for string quartet by Class of 2020 alumnus Aadhi Ramkumar. What an incredible gift to his school and such a special part of the celebration.

I’m grateful to everyone who took a few minutes to talk with me and share a memory. I’m still getting to know the history of Forest Hills and hearing it from the people who lived it means so much.

A huge thank you to our Turpin staff and communications team, including Josh Bazan and Arden Miller. So much work goes into a celebration like this and you made it truly golden!

Happy 50th Turpin. Truly a wonderful night celebrating so many moments that still matter to so many people.

Summit STRONG… and then some! Our Summit Bees shattered their fundraising goal raising over $50,000! What an incredible show of support for our students.

And they sure know how to celebrate! Inflatables and Snowies, pies in the face and a schoolwide dance party! So much joy packed into Summit STRONG Day.

Behind all that fun are families and PTO volunteers who give so much to make these experiences possible. I’m grateful for the heart they put into our schools and the partnership that helps our students feel part of something special.

Thank you, Summit, for showing what a community can do together. So much to celebrate!

There are no words that can capture my gratitude for the difference Jodie McKinley has had on the Forest Hills School District and personally……on me during my transition as the Superintendent. Forever grateful for Jodie and her family. Join me this Thursday evening as we celebrate with the Forest Hills Foundation for Education the impact Jodie and so many others have dedicated to our community.

Jodie talks about the impact Forest Hills has had on her.

What a way to start a jam packed Friday in the Forest!

Our Sherwood Archers were the celebrities this morning as they arrived for the Walk-A-Thon fundraiser kickoff! Students walked the red carpet while paparazzi snapped pictures and music played with parents, family members and staff cheering them into school.

I was smiling the entire time… and so were our Archers! What a wonderful feeling for a child to walk into school and be celebrated just for being there.

This is the power of community. Families showing up and staff going above and beyond helping create a place where our students know they belong. So grateful for everyone who made this morning special.

Thank you, Sherwood, for a perfect start to a Friday!
